Erg: Model D
Screen: PM3
So I was erging outside last week when it started to rain lightly. At first the rain didn't affect the erg, but then, my splits and stroke rates started changing and kept jumping around, e.g. 5:02/500m and 66spm.
I thought I would just let the erg dry off and try again this week. Yesterday the erg seemed fine at first, but about 20 minutes into the piece, the splits and stroke rate were all over the place.
Did I completely ruin the erg and monitor? Is this a matter of resetting the erg? I didn't want to touch anything until I had some opinions!
Thanks!

Remove the batteries.
Leave it to dry for a week. Replace batteries, cross fingers and it should be OK. You could open the case and dry it very gently with a hair dryer on low temp but for a small amount of liquid that's probably got more risk of damage than drying naturally.
The problem with wet electronics is shorting the tracks in the circuit board.
A bigger problem than rain is sticky sugary drinks. That's the biggest killer of laptops.
