Help -Model C with PM2 PROBLEM

Post by reeder08 » December 22nd, 2008, 12:29 pm

I have a Model C with a PM2 monitor, never had any trouble. This morning, display was weak, so I changed the batteries, no big deal. After setting up my workout, when I began to row, the strokes didn't register - no split, meters, nothing. Oddly, the bottom right corner heart began flashing (even though I don't have the hear rate monitor attachment), but other than that nothing. I reset the monitor (like it says to on the Concept 2 troubleshooting site), but that didn't fix anything. Any suggestions? Concept 2 over the phone says there might be a short in the wire that connects the monitor to the flywheel, and wanted to sell me a new one, but I can't believe that dead batteries and this new problem coincidentally happened at the same time.

Please help!

Make sure the plug is pushed all the way into the back of the monitor.

Yes, I made sure that it's all the way in, doesn't change anything.

We've seen "pulsing" screens before in PM2 and PM2+ but usually this is a Polar HR cable plugged in only part way. Just to be sure, it is plugged into the right jack...

Yes. From what I can tell, the other jack (the one for the HR monitoring) is a larger size anyways, so it would be relatively obvious if it was in the wrong jack. It is in the jack that is to the right, if you were looking at the monitor from the screen side.

I have a similar issue with a PM3... So you may want to see if you pull the plug out a little bit whether it starts working.. then you can go from there. I have emailed C2 but haven't heard back yet.
