PM3 and PM4 Beta Firmware

Post by c2scott » December 19th, 2008, 11:42 am

Concept2 has published "Beta Test" firmware for all PM3 and PM4 monitors. This firmware has some minor improvements and bug fixes which should improve your user experience for both normal operation and also for Venue Racing. There are no major new features.

If you would like to participate in the "Beta test" process, you can get the firmware using a current version of the LogCard Utility. For detailed instructions on how to get the firmware, please watch this short video.

This firmware has been tested internally and Concept2 has not found faults with the firmware, however of course there is always the chance that there is an unknown problem. If this happens, you may of course remove the Beta firmware from your monitor by downgrading it to the current production release. Concept2 would appreciate any feedback you may have on the beta test firmware or the process. You may write to rowing@concept2.com or to me directly at the address to the left.

Scott, I'm planning to have a small venue race next month and hope to use four PM4s (three on Model Ds and one Model E) from four different places that will be brought in on the day. Will these all have to have the same version running in order to display the race on the individual screens?

As long as they all meet the minimum requirements you should be OK. I'd recommend the beta versions for both. You will get warnings from Venue Race app that they don't match, but I think you're safe.

The beta didn't seem to work with rowpro for me at all. The PM was on, RP showed the PM as green, but no response to pulling the handle.

I downgraded to 101 and that seems to work fine.
