The January Virtual Challenge is right around the corner.We are in the midst of the Holiday Challenge which gets us all in the holiday spirit and gets us mentally and physically prepared to give it our all!!The stress of the holidays lends itself to ways to alleviate the frantic and frenzy of what we deal with for a couple of months.
So I am inviting all who want motivation and team spirit to join Team TIMBUK2 for the ride of your life.
No pressures to row a given number of meters.Just fun, fitness, health and motivation.Our team room offers that for you..and the opportunity to row on a team made up of many different seasonal team members who share their yearly skills with us.

January Virtual Team Challenge

January 1–31, 2009
We invite you to join the international online January Virtual Team Challenge, to be held during the month of January 2009. Follow the directions below to create a new team or edit an existing team.

The Details
Each team rows as many meters as they can collectively between 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) January 1 and 12:00 a.m. ET, January 31, 2009.
This is a team challenge. You must belong to a team to participate. This is not the same as your club affiliation in your profile. See "How To Join a Team" below.
Meters must be entered online.
Teams must consist of at least two (2) people.
All teams wanting to participate in the JVTC must be signed up by midnight ET January 15.
All team members must be added to their teams by midnight ET on January 15. No team members can be added after January 15.
New this year: Team members may only be deleted from the team before midnight ET on January 15. No team members can be deleted after January 15.
Only indoor rower meters count (no water meters please).
Deadline for entering meters: Tuesday, February 5, 2009 at midnight ET.
Who Can Participate
Virtual teams (not based on or around a specific physical location) can be made up of anyone from anywhere who wants to participate—friends, family, co-workers, old schoolmates, rowing teammates, etc. Teams can also be real "clubs," with a physical location. Team captains will be asked to indicate their club division when registering their team for the first time. The choices are:

Virtual
Health Club
YMCA
JCC
School
Rowing Club
Corporate Fitness
Military
Correctional Facility
There will be separate Honor Boards for each club division, so you can compare your club’s performance with other similar clubs. Team standings in all divisions will be posted online throughout the duration of the challenge.

I am looking for a team to join for the January virtual team challenge. I noticed that there is a Team Timbuktu-do you have any room for a new team member? I am training for a triathlon that is in Las Vegas in May 2009 and I am really enjoying rowing for my training (especially since it is pretty cold right now, -11 degrees this morning!). I would be a lot more fun if I had some friends to motivate me, here in Northeastern Nevada it is pretty tough to find athletes to train with. Thanks!
