LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: To the moon
Wouldn't that be a 'rowed' trip? And um, yes to the adult beverages, make mine a Black Velvet.

Gina,
I stand corrected. It's really hard to get ahead of you guys.
To All,
I'm taking drink orders.

You can put me down for a Hot Toddy (made with Johnny Powers whiskey). It's a perfect beverage for this chilly weather (and it's nowhere near as cold at my house in CT as it is for many of you.)

We suffered through some miserable fog this morning visibility was down to 1.5 miles, but it had burnt off by 8:30 and then managed to make it through the rest of the day with temps hovering around 80. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Welcome another new teammate!
It's an auspicious day indeed - we have another new teammate joining our lunar crew! This brings us to 65 crew members, and I believe we're still ranked 7th overall in season meters ... 5th overall in the Holiday Challenge!
Welcome to Laurie P !

Kenneth and Laurie, Welcome to the team! Great to have you aboard! Feel free to jump right in on the Team Room chit chat.
About the team party, why not have it on New Year's Eve? - a 24 hour event, of course to allow all our time zones to participate. This way we can ring in the New Year and the start of the 2009 JVC all at the same time, and celebrate our accomplishments for the past year, too.
I say we make it an International food and drink theme. Everyone coming to the party should make a post describing their food and drink contribution to the party. Include a recipe if you can, and a picture if you have one. The party starts as soon as you can call it December 31 in your time zone, and continues until midnight passes everyone by.

Congratulations Tim and Mary for the 1M for the season!DuluthMoose wrote:Tim P - Congratulations on the million meter mark for the season!
We were suspensefully wondering if you'd be able to make that goal on your next row (snicker)! Way to Row!
And that mile high rowing has to be worth 2 million flat land meters....
Mile C - Classy and decisive way to attain the HC Honor Board. Congrats on the HM.
Kona2 - Great rowing effort! Rowing a HM isn't exactly a piece of cake. You Row, Kona2!
Has anyone else noticed they row stronger under the influence of very high barometric pressure??? Our pressure the last 24 hours has been about 30.5 (enough to drive my thermometer down to minus 27.8 this morning - without wind chill.) Or maybe I've just been rowing stronger the last couple rows while under the influence.....
Many thanks for all the notes of encouragement for my 1M (and 2M recorded lifetime ).
I would be nowhere close to the those milestones without the LUNA-TICS team! Thanks to all!
Welcome Kenneth and Laurie! Great to have you in our boat/spaceship!
Happy rowing!
Andrea (the "midnight rower" who posted for two days today)

I might have to change for something more appropriate with the chilly weather by Bay area "standards" (around 32F and snow on the hills) .

Congrats
Mary - Congratulations on a Million Meters this season! Great Rowing!
Welcome to the Luna-Tics Ken and Laurie.
Ken I hope you find what your scouting for up on top of that picnic table soon. Is that the Oslo of Dodge County? I grew up in Claremont about a hundred years ago....
Dan C - Since you're the barkeep.... How about some New Glarus Uff Da Bock from the land of Cheeseheads! And if that's not possible, how about the Captain (Morgan)... Something pirates quench their thirst with. But I like mine with equal Peach Schnapps please, although I know that's a risk of not sounding very pirate-like.

Congratulations, Mary on your million, and Jan on your half marathon! Great accomplishments.
Here is the response I got back from C2 regarding the new way of joining in on the team challenges...so now we know.
Here is the response I got back from C2 regarding the new way of joining in on the team challenges...so now we know.
Hi Kristine,
We appreciate your concerns. Part of the reason we’ve decided to take this action is to ensure that the people taking part in each challenge are actually doing so. In the past, some teams, virtual ones especially, have signed up hundreds of people over a number of years. We know (from previous correspondence) that some of these people are not even aware they are still in a team, never mind taking part in a challenge.
We decided to introduce a small step (simply clicking a link) to try and make the challenges more accurately reflect what teams and their members are actually doing, in the same way that teams have to sign up for each challenge rather than just have a default assumption they wish to take part.
The change has also been made in response to feedback from both team members and team captains about their own teams. People now are able to choose what challenges they wish to take part in without having to leave and/or rejoin each challenge. We know that some people, for example, only want to take part in the NARC without, as they put it, “dragging down” their team’s meters in the Fall Rowing Challenge.
We’re aware that this change may catch some people out. As such we’ll be mentioning it prominently in an email sent to all ranking members later on this week. We’ll also look at some way of flagging on the main logbook page a reminder to people who are members of teams taking part in the challenge and who have not yet signed up.
I hope this answers your questions, but if it doesn’t, or if you have anything further you want to ask, please drop me a line.
Best,
David Hart
