Tom - Yes it is normal for 3 to 4 snowstorms to hit Duluth between Halloween and May Day that dump 10 or more inches each. And actually we were having a snow starved winter up until today. But the minus 20 plus stuff is a little early. I'm still going through canoe withdrawal for the season. But I'll get over it when the temps rebound a little and I get out on the X-country ski trails.tom pinckney wrote:Duluth Moose: isn't that considered normal?
Chris - Congrats on a full MARATHON! Wow! Did you take a break or two, or just grit and grind it out?
And yesterday I had to wait while the Lift Bridge was up for the 1000 ft Mesabi Miner to head out. Don't think that I wasn't thinking about those sailors aboard facing a snow storm, gale force winds, and dropping temps. I was a little surprised they left port with a big storm approaching. They did have an impressive Christmas tree attached to their self-unloader conveyor.
Karyn - Good rowing on your first half marathon!
And Congrats to the U of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, who yesterday earned the title of Div 2 football National Champs!

Chris,
I would be honored to! What time zone are you in? I'm in New Haven, CT so I'm an eastern gal.

Jan - You outdid Duluth for cold honors this morning, but I think we'll take honors tomorrow morning. I had -10F with about a 15mph wind at my place just north of town at 6AM. Anyone in need of about 50 cubic yds of fresh snow? Help yourself... it's in a narrow path I previously called my driveway.....

Way to row, Andrea!
We have a lot of team mates with over one million this rowing season already. Fantastic efforts, everyone!
I did check, and it is a new thing this year to have to elect to participate in the JVC even though the team is enrolled. So everyone does need to go to their Teams tab in their log book, and click on the link to participate in the JVC. I will send out an email to the whole team to let them know, but that will happen after this challenge is over. I am waiting for an answer back regarding the purpose of this new change, and to find out if there are cut-off dates for entering or switching teams. Will keep you all posted.
