I am also a competitive swimmer, runner and rower. I got into rowing more seriously for CT because it is helping me with my running endurance. I haven't yet been in the pool for a couple of months but I'm sure that it will help me with my strokes. I will soon be training for a Triathlon next year and keep on CT on the C2 rower ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I swim with a local swimming club at squad sessions.
Currently only twice a week - but ideally I would like to increase this to three. We tend to do about 4k a session with mixed strokes. My main reason for using swimming as a CT is to strengthen my core. Last year suffered lots of C2 injuries that were basically down to lack of core strength.
I am gradually improving my FC speed and am contemplating entering the 1500 at the club champs next Sunday... will probably bottle out though!!
Would be interested in a swimming thread??

Re: competition swimming and concept 2
I'm still on the steep end of the learnig curve when it comes to swimming. I train for triathlons. Recently I've done my C2 workout immediatelly before my swim workout.duorower wrote:Hi there

Gets the muscles warmed up, pre-exhausted, and then the swim is a bit harder but still very doable.

I swim masters (am now 60) and have recently taken to adding gum work - including rowing - as a cross trainer.
Strength is specific to what you do, but I am happy that rowing adds to general CV and cross training always adds a measure of strength which acts alongside any principal sport.
