Holiday Challenge opening ceremony.
Ahum,,, Test... Test.... 1... 2... Is this mic on ??
By entering these 15k meters I declare the Holiday Challenge for the Luna-tics open !!!!
<<faiding applause>>
Dear Luna's,
once in a while it is nice to row in another time zone then most of us. In such occasion I can take a head start. I hope I can close the gap a bit with Rodrigo. He was my target for most of the season. But sofar I am more struggling with Andrea. We keep on our hare and tortoise game for quite some months now. The goal for this challenge is 200k. Could be a bit higher but on 19th of December I'll take my wife to Austria for Xmas.
Happy rowing to all of us !!
Peter H

How fitting that Luna-Tic Stig should issue a written proclamation (although the virtual mic was indeed on, we know that The Stig never speaks) declaring the Luna-Tic holiday challenge open ! Good job Peter H! A good rowtography contest entry would be the Stig aboard an indoor rowing machine.....

Hiya! I'm back!
I've been on the water for many months, hence you haven't heard from me since probably last winter. It is now a bit too cold in New England for me to be rowing. (I don't like carrying a multi-thousand dollar boat down a frost covered ramp, so once the frost is here, I'm off the water.) This is good news for the LUNA-tics as now I will be able to put more meters on the erg. I started the challenge off today with 13,510m. There have been way too many pages of messages added to this forum since I last read them, so I'm not going to bother catching up. Hope everyone is doing well.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Erging!

pie row
Hi Jan and other number lovers.
Thanksgiving pie row: 3141
perhaps the luna-tics can get some pyro power in our rockets to the moon.
The model b has sold and is in the hands of its new owner.
The model d is in the living room. The *** DELETE - SPAM *** moved into the back porch rowing space.
The pie was pecan, homebaked in an unfinished remodeling project sometimes called the *** DELETE - SPAM ***.

In my case, I will have to "work off" that wonderful pumpkin cake that my daughter bought for Thanksgiving. My new lifestyle (actually I've lived a pretty good one since last Thanksgiving) starts today. In addition to the Thanksgiving to Xmas Challenge, I started one for "Other Fat People" as an additional incentive to get in better shape this year.
Kind of puts me in a situation where I HAVE to get started! Last year was as follows:
December: 165,361 (work up to next level)
January - 620,000 meters
I pledge to exceed those as a goal this year!

Some bug I picked up in the UK, knocked me off the boat... but I hope I can meet my 200k goal for the Holiday Challenge!
Happy rowing!

Welcome to Nicole, and welcome back, Karyn and Tom! We are off to a great start! And I was so happy to see all the new pictures added to the Team Roster. If any of you don't have your picture posted yet, and need help with resizing it for your profile, just email me, and I will be glad to help you out. My goal is to have as many photos on our Roster page as possible.

Sticking with my team
Hi All!
Some rowers from my real rowing club have decided to do the Holiday Challenge this year and create their own team. I gracefully declined their offer to join them as I am already on a team working to get to the moon and back. (By the way, where are we in this venture?) Last year I was motivated to keep erging due to all my friends on my virtual team. Hopefully you will continue to motivate me this year.
I started out with a bang and already have about 48,000m in. (Not bad for someone who averaged about 6,000m a day last year.) Last year I gave myself 30-45 min a day to erg. I row in the morning before work from April to Nov. During my off season, I try to let myself sleep in a little, so it's hard to get up extra early to erg. This year I am going to try to give myself 45-1 hour each day. We'll see how it goes. I am only able to practice in the morning before work. My evenings are way to hectic.
Thanks for welcoming me back after my hiatus from the forum and erg worlds.

welcome back Karen, nothing like real on the water rowing.
Andrea - hope you feel better soon.
So far so good on the HC. I'm aiming for at least 5K/day everyday but Saturday. I'm working real hard to keep the pace sane...stroke rate no more than 21 and pulse rate under 150. Low and slow. I only feel a twinge in my ribs from time to time, but I'm still not up to doing situps. I felt it trying to get up out of the dentist's chair last week. I figure there are 21 weeks left in the rowing year, if I keep up the 30 km/wk I should be able to make it a 1 mil season.
