For sculling the word your looking for is the span (not sure if it is used for sweep). There is no indication that the "span" is adjustable. It looks the same in the pictures for both sculling and sweep.
It says "adjustable oar and draw height". I don't know what draw height is.
IT also looks like the angle of the foot boards is not adjustable.
When I last tried the Oartec and spoke to Matt about it he said that it has the same adjustability as what is possible in a boat. You can adjust the feet and oar height to suit any sized rower. The span and draw height are adjusted at the pins where the oar handles are connected to. If your taller and need more height, so that the oar handle is drawn towards the chest, then you add more washers to the pin. Just like the rigging on a boat.
It comes with two sets of handles (sweep and scull) that slip into those black oar shafts. I found that its adjustability allowed for a very comfortable rowing position. You sat in it rather then on it. That's probably it's main selling point (advantage) over other stationary ergs such as the C2. It was the most comfortable rowing machine I've been on.
My first thought when rowing on the Oartec was that a large framed American carrying a few extra pounds in weight would be very comfortable on this thing and would probably love it.
However, you have to remember that it is still only a stationary erg which is what limits how far it can go with rowing boat simulation.
PBs: 2K 6:13.4, 5K 16:32, 6K 19:55, 10K 33:49, 30min 8849m, 60min 17,309m
Caution: Static C2 ergs can ruin your technique and timing for rowing in a boat.
The best thing I ever did to improve my rowing was to sell my C2 and get a Rowperfect.
