Couldn't stop watching the Broncos, so I rowed less today... Oh, well, it's good to have some lighter days! And it was great to see the Broncos win for a change!!

I can't keep track of all of the milestones that we're whizzing by, but that's a good thing! Way to go, team!

COMING SOON

Holiday Challenge
Looking for a little extra motivation to row this holiday season? Then look no further! Our Holiday Challenge is for you!

The DetailsRow 100,000 meters or 200,000 meters between November 27 (U.S. Thanksgiving) and December 24 at midnight (Eastern Time)
You do not need to be on a team to participate! Log your individual meters.
Record indoor rower meters only (no on-water meters, please!)
Kid's Holiday Challenge allows kids (aged 16 and under) to participate at 50,000 meters
Adaptive rowers can choose to participate at the 50K, 100K, or 200K levels
Deadline for entering meters: January 4th, 2009
Support a Good Cause with Meters RowedBesides helping you maintain your fitness and fend off holiday weight gain and stress, we’re giving you the option of supporting a good cause with your meters rowed. Consider it a holiday gift to the planet.

For every person that rows at least 100k during the challenge, Concept2 will donate $.02 for every kilometer (1000 meters) you row to your choice of the following organizations: The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International or to the Alliance for Climate Protection. And once you get beyond 100k, we’ll donate $.04 per kilometer rowed. Our goal through this group effort is to raise a total $50,000 to support these causes. The usual prizes of pin and certificate will still be awarded as well. Note: For Kids and Adaptive rowers, the $.04 rate will take effect at 50k.

In recent years, we have had around 5000 people participate in the Holiday Challenge! We are hoping that this new incentive will bring in even more people and encourage past participants to row more meters than ever to help us reach our goal. Please invite your friends to join us. Our strength is in our numbers. It’s like rowing an eight: when you all work together in synchrony, you become greater than the sum of the parts.

Stay tuned to your online logbook for how to select your organization for this year's Holiday Challenge.

How to Participate
You must have an Online Logbook at concept2.com (it's FREE!) and all of your meters must be entered into your Online Logbook. If you don't already have one, visit the Online Logbook home page, click Register under New User and follow the directions. Kids Challenge participants need to set up an individual logbook (using a parent's email address is fine).
Under the Profile tab, enter your current mailing address
After you row, record your meters in your Online Logbook. The Online Logbook automatically calculates your meters during the Challenges.
Visit the Challenges tab in your Online Logbook. When you've reached your goal, the Challenges tab of the Online Logbook automatically recognizes your achievement and displays instructions for claiming your rewards.
Don't have a Concept2 Indoor Rower? That's OK! Visit our Indoor Rower Finder page to find a location near you with one of our machines.

Incentives & Rewards
The incentives and rewards available depend on which goal you achieve. Here's how it works.

200K, 50K Kids, and Adaptive
Participants who row 200,000 meters, kids who row 50,000 meters, and adaptive rowers who row at least 50,000 meters are entitled to the following incentives and rewards:

A free downloadable certificate of achievement
A free downloadable heat transfer for making your own Holiday Challenge-wear
A free Holiday Challenge pin
Pins are sent automatically to the address on file in your Personal Logbook Profile. Please ensure you have entered a valid address in order to receive your pin.
Access to the Cafepress Holiday Challenge T-Shirt shop

Cafepress is an interactive online marketplace capable of producing customized T-shirts and shipping them worldwide. We've selected Cafepress.com as our source for challenge T-shirts because of our experience with the quality of their shirts and their customer service. The shirts we've ordered from Cafepress have held up well after washing and are high quality Hanes cotton T's.

Note: The purchase of any Cafepress.com product is processed entirely by Cafepress.com and any customer service questions about your order should be directed to them. Customer support information can be found in the Cafepress.com Help section.
100K Finishers
Participants who row 100,000 meters are entitled to the following incentives and rewards:

A free downloadable certificate of achievement
A free downloadable heat transfer for making your own Holiday Challenge-wear
Preparing for the Holiday Challenge
If rowing 200,000 meters in a month is a new challenge for you, here are a few ideas to help prepare before the challenge begins:

If you haven't tried it before, don't be intimidated! Each year we hear from folks who have never rowed any long distances before and have completed the challenge.
Gradually build your rowing time. Try adding an extra 1000 meters per day, especially if you don't usually row 7000 meters at a time.
If you don't usually row every day, try rowing for several days in a row. The rows can be short, but see how it feels to row more often.
Be sure to keep some stretching in your routine or add it if you haven't been doing it regularly. See our recommended stretches.
Think about when you will fit your extra Holiday Challenge rowing into your schedule. If it requires that you row at a different time of day, you should try it out ahead of time. For example, if you don't usually row first thing in the morning, keep in mind that it may take you longer to warm up at that time of day, and you should not expect to be able to row as hard and as fast as usual right away.
Will you miss any days of rowing due to travel or other commitments? If so, plan ahead, so that you can make up the missed meters. For example, you may want to row twice a day on some of the weekends.
Be sensible! Many people have commented that the Holiday Challenge pushed them to row more than they ever thought they could, and it felt great! On the other hand, it is not wise to make a sudden jump in rowing time and distance so keep this in mind. You can build your daily meters gradually, even during the Challenge itself.

Go Team Go! :D

Work is interfering with my erging :x , I think it's time to quit!

Gotta get priorities straight-

Rowing 1st

Religion 2nd

Family 3rd

Work 4th

My wife made the mistake of getting on the Erg, now we're gonna have to buy another one  if we want peace in the house.

Concept2 should really have a warning label on the machine,

"Warning: this machine is highly addictive and may result in a complete life/mind altering experience."

My meters will be slowing down for about a month, busy time at work- time to get ready for the "ski season", can't wait especially this season the rower has really helped getting back into shape. Still want to work on getting as many meters as I can, just will be a little inconsistant. Hope to be back to a regular schedule when the Holiday Challenge gets here!

Pat, hope all is going well getting the computer up and running!

Michael, you're too funny! I'm very selfish with my machine, too, and encourage my hubby to use the one at the gym. I guess we could work something out if he became serious about our machine at home, but he likes a lot of other machines at the gym, too, so I don't have to worry about that for now.

I've slowed down this week, but I'm still on track for my 28-day goal of 300,000 that ends tomorrow.

Linda,

Way to Row, 300,000m in one month, that is an awesome goal. I like the sounds of that. I'm gonna steal your goal and starting today just go for it! I am in my busy time at work, but hopefully with this goal I will make it through this month.

Thanks for the encouragement! What do you have in store for next months goal?

Michael

ps. I'm at 244,056m right now, goal of 544,056 by Dec 12th. (looks kind of scary right now), but i've had a weight lose goal of 35lbs and I just reached it this last week, feeling pretty awesome right now.

Pat,

So sorry, but the 42,000 was a typo on my part for yesterday's rowing amount! I added one extra zero by mistake. Wish I could row that much in one day, yet I'm keeping my meters low with all this back stuff. Sorry about that!

I've corrected my meters in the logbook.

Thanks much!

Alison
