Hello everyone,

Just finished up the Skeleton Crew Challenge row and feeling great.

I had a good day today, I operate a downhill ski area in central Wisconsin, Cascade Mtn, and I have a friendly wager going on with the owner with weight loss. We have a weigh in on Mondays and we've been going now for 2 1/2 months. I lost 7 lbs this last week and I owe it to my erg. This has been a wonderful change in my workout routine, which was freeweights, running, and biking. But since the temps dropped down below 40's and 30's, it's been tough running and biking. My erg has been a blessing, and just the change in workouts has taken me off a plateau that I was on for around 3weeks. So far I've lost 28 lbs, and haven't felt this good since I was in the service. My last attempt to lose weight was with a change in diet and some exercise. This time, I'm choosing more exercise and less change in diet, although, the effort I've been putting into my workouts sure does make me look more at what I am putting into my body and the results are going great. That's alittle info about me and what my motivations are right now.

Good luck to everyone on the challenge, and keep rowing! I'm doing a little math right now trying to set some realistic goals for the rest of this season, thanks for the input on the honor boards, wasn't even aware of those, that will help in setting some goals and something to strive for. Right now the 10k is feeling pretty comfortable and then cooling down with another 1 or 2k.

What are some of your routines? Do you row everyday or do you put a couple of rest days in? Surprisingly, my body has responded pretty well with rowing and just rowing a couple easy days, I don't feel I need to take complete days off to rest. Although, I think this week, I am going to add a couple of High Intensity workouts on the erg, just to mix up my heart rate and keep my body off gaurd. Seems to respond better keeping the workouts mixed up. My sessions so far have been pretty consistant and and paced.

I'll let you know how it goes! :D

Micheal..
Great post and always so happy to see the crew here!!

I have been indoor rowing since the early 90's.I found an indoor rower in the back corner of a gym that I was working at ..at the time.No one ever sat on it.I discovered indoor rowing and really gave that dusty erg a workout.I found that it was by far the best workout and gave me more bang for my buck! I then started all my clients on the path to indoor rowing. They fussed and whined but all lost weight and became so healthy and fit.It caught on among all the gym patrons.

I then bought my own and have been steadily rowing since.I have well exceeded 14 million meters lifetime.I didn't always write my meters in my journal.

I try to row every day.My goal is to stay in the 10,000 meter a day ranking or more.It is not always possible though.I tend to row more during challenges but have been known to over do a bit and my hands suffer. So I try to watch the hands and keep them strong and in good shape.I try to cross train and walk most days or bike.I work at heart rate levels for fitness and use that as my way of testing my fitness level.Interval training too.

I just love fitness and have made it my life's work to stay healthy and strong and live well past 100!!!

Welcome, Tim! Best of luck with your goals! I hope the motivation from the team will help you reach them!

Michael--Pat has told us how she rows throughout the day, and when I started doing shorter sessions, my daily workouts were easier on my body. I row almost every day. Because I row such an easy pace, it doesn't seem to affect me. During the periods when I've tried to get back to the lower times I had when I was younger, I started having more problems with my shoulder, hip, and knees. So, for now, I'm just rowing for general health & all the meters I can get. The 10,000 Honors Board is pretty far out of reach, but if I continue to row frequently at the 15,000 mark, who knows? I'm not going to "do the math" because it mlight be too depressing! I'm VERY happy to be on the 7500 Honors Board. The 10,000 HB would be a good goal for me next season.

Hi Pat and team.

I am still here in Missouri taking care of mom. Sure miss my rowing. Probably another two weeks here before I can get back. I posted this earlier so it may show up as a double post.

Way to go Team TimbukTOO, we've moved 2 spots today and currently in 27th position.

Thanks to some great rowing and to our new member, Tim. Welcome aboard Tim!

This team is moving forward fast, let's keep the momentum going, I know my goals are being set higher, just to keep pushing myself a little harder. Thanks team for the words of encouragement.
