New here...

Post by Cynic » September 30th, 2008, 5:47 am

I'm buying a gently used Model D with PM3 for $650. The owner claims to have used it only twice and that they didn't have the space to keep it (might also be the kid didn't use it enough to warrant the father keeping it around). I should be getting it Thursday.

Anyway, I got intro'd to rowing at work, on a Model C and really liked it over running on a treadmill. It's going in my basement as part of my home gym and I plan to use it as my cardio machine.

Eventually, I'd like to get a shell and hit the lakes and rivers in WI, but that is sometime off while I renovate my house and my body and get up the money for a shell or skiff. I like Little River Marine's Sprint.

I'm eager to learn what I can. I won't ask my home fitness forum to create a sub forum for rowing/erging, so I'll be here when I need info on C2s and erging.

Thank you for reading.

Sounds like you are getting a good deal. Easy enough to check the usage of the unit as the PM3 should have a record of the total lifetime distance rowed on it in the Product ID section in the Utilities menu. . .

Thanks for the info Kaiser. After you told me that, I googled the menu structure for the PM3. I should be able to use the memory function to see how many workouts are recorded.

Er no. That memory is limited, as soon as it's full the oldest workout is silently discarded. It's also a trivial task to reset the memory to zero.

The way to keep workouts is to record them on a LogCard.

If the PM3 has up to date firmware there is a "lifetime metres" recorded. Main menu --> More Options --> Utilities --> Product ID --> More Information

If it doesn't have V101 of the firmware it needs an update.

It shows lifetime meters:

I had put an additional 400m on it playing around.

If you want the monitor to not shut off on it's own for at least 4 minutes then get version 97.

If you want the monitor to shut off if you happen to take a 2 minute break then get v101.
