Hello all -

My name is Kimberly & I'm new to the team...just signed up & rowed my first part of the 200,000m Holiday Challenge.

A little background....for the last 10 years I have done strength training, cycling, elliptical crosstrainer and inline skating. I have lost 200lbs and have 100 to go and am adding rowing to do something new & different and also to give my feet and knees a break. This last year I started doing inline skate marathons and while I really enjoy the challenge and am proud to have finished two races, that much weight is sooooo not feeling good on my feet. Next race isn't until March so I hope to lose another 35-50 pounds over the winter with consistent rowing.

Today’s row felt great and I'm really looking forward to the next 4 weeks. I want that t-shirt!

Kimberly
Sorry - forgot to add my question to my previous post...

Does anyone wear gloves, and if so what kind? Or will the soft spots on my palms toughen up after awhile?

Any guidance is appreciated -
kg

Thank you both for the advice. Since I'm not planning any rows over 10,000m this month I think I'll skip the gloves for now and let my hands get adjusted. If things get bad, I appreciate the pad idea.

kg

Hello RPRG,
I'm in. Contributed 10000 this AM. I need to take it easy, though, so can't commit to more than an average of 3000 per day. Thanks to the group for great motivation!
Meri

Howdy,

Due to some personal issues I find being incognito preferable at this time.

Best of luck to everyone, don’t quit rowing…I haven’t.

Charles
