Anyone have a pm2+, a pm3, or pm4 for sale/trade?
I have a model c, and I'd like to upgrade from my pm2 to a pm2+, a pm3, or a pm4.
Willing to spend a buck or two. What do you have?

Sorry, I don't have anything to sell or trade (and I am not optimistic that others have PMs laying around either). But if you have computer with a sound card, you could try PaulS' ergmonitor:

I haven't used it, but that would be much, much more interesting and fun than upgrading your PM. Why do you want to upgrade, anyway? If the goal is to use rowpro (and it should be), then get the PM3 so you have the USB hookup and the venue race display. I love rowpro. I also had to upgrade my model C with a PM2 to a PM3 to use RP.
In my opinion, the benefits of upgrading the PM are very small, other than to take advantage of RP. Ergmonitor replaces the PM, so you could do that upgrade and keep the PM2 or just not use it.
Good luck.

There is no reason to upgrade.
The pm2 is my favorite, and is the best monitor made by concept2.
If you're interested in online racing, then I'd sell the modelC and get a modelD with pm3 monitor.

ErgMonitor is a great program--better and more versatile then any PM. However be careful of where you put your screen. If you always looking to one side while rowing it can introduce an asymmetry in your stroke. Either put your screen directly in front of you, or alternate rowing with it on each side.
Believe it or not the PM on the D is not directly in line with the rail/chain and that introduced a small bias before I became aware of it.

Re: Why Upgrade???
Why do you think you want to change? What's your perceived benefit? What do you think is missing on a PM2?Stephen Hyduke wrote:I do want to use RowPro...
The PM3 / PM4 does have a bunch of new features, but for straight rowing the PM2 does a good job.

What's missing on the PM2?
Just the capacity to use RowPro, that's all I want to do... and I somehow think that I can race people on the Net as well, with rowpro. which might be fun! Other than that I love love love my pm2 and am very happy with it; concept 2 does not sell a pm2+ upgrade anymore... Just pm3 and pm4 upgrades. and for the price, I could just trade or sell my model c and come out ahead by buying a model d or e.

That may be your best option. A PM2+ is as rare as hen's teeth. You can find ergs on Craigsist and/or eBay.Stephen Hyduke wrote:I could just trade or sell my model c and come out ahead by buying a model d or e.
Good luck with your search or upgrade Stephen. Look forward to seeing you online.
I am as cheap as the next guy, and like you I had to buy the PM3 upgrade as well as buying RP, so it is an investment, but as I row year after year, stayed interested and motivated in large part because of rowpro, it sure seems worth it in the end. I did a 12k online tonight, and because it was online, that got me to row farther and faster than I ever would have done on my own.
With RP coming out of the beta, finally (after years of waiting for this new race server) with support for up to 16 racers, with fall coming up and the surge in rowing then, this may be the best time ever for starting up with RP.
