I will join you later this month; I am slowly getting back into shape after months of hibernation.Tinpusher wrote:Three boats! Great job Eh! Team. Who's going to join me this month?

I'm going to row as many 30 minute pieces as I can, and try to get a respectable time by the end of the month.
Cheers,

Hey, David: Awesome half marathon for you today in the Solstice Challenge. 1:18:50?! Saw it on the Nonathlon site. Saw that Charles also rowed a PB HM today. No dice for me. I was in good shape for a 20 sec PB at 17,000 m then hit the wall. Total collapse. The last 4000 m was very painful. At least my 1:21:53 is worth more points than you guys

Hi Mike,
You old lightweights are certainly favoured by the Nonathlon. I'm only 42 points below last years result and I've not done anything of value below 5K. I've not had the best (i.e. no) preparation for the HM as I've had arm/shoulder problems this last 10 days or so (details in blog on C2 UK site) so I would have been happy with anything under 1:20:00.
Well done Charles! You're a machine man. A machine!
Dave

Thanks Dave!
I'm a slow machine though! Although I did set a new PB for the half marathon for the Solstice Row.
I'm having a circulation problem in my legs over the past month or so. I tend to have both feet go numb after about 20 minutes or so. It's probably a problem with my form though.

I had to stop yesterday with 8K to go because my bum and feet were getting numb and I had a cramp developing in my right calf. I got up and stretched it out and lost about 20 seconds but at least finished. I find 4 or 5 strokes on one butt cheek can improve circulation in my legs and also moving slightly forward or backwards on the seat.

Thanks, Dave. That's the most Nonathlon points I've ever managed. But I've pretty much shot my bolt -- I won't get more than another 10 - 15 points plus the marathon bonus. Lots of people are going to pass me between now and April, judging from last year's final results. I won't be at all surprised if you are one of them; it looks like there are several distances where you haven't done a maximal effort yet. So this thing is far from over!
Happy Canada Day. Hope you're looking forward to 8 x 500.

Hello all.
I managed to get 4 C2 sessions done in June, 3 of them were 30 min. ones. Although not too speedy at least each new go was faster than the last.
I'll keep on plodding.
ps.
Impressive Nonathlon efforts Mike and Dave. It seems to be more inspirational, for me anyways, when you know the people attatched to the names... even if you only virtually know them. Keep up the hard work.

Know what you mean, Kirk. Reading the forums and getting to know the on-line community is inspiring. It's nice to know that other people do crazy things like 8 x 500 on 3:00 rest. What insane person dreamed that one up?
Nursing an upper calf strain this month, doing lots of low rating, slow pace work. Felt strong today, so gave the July CTC a go. First 8x500 ever. Didn't know how to tackle it, decided to do my 2000 PB pace which is 1:47. That was out the window on the first rep; too much andrenaline: did 1:44.9. Then negative split all reps down to #7 when a coughing fit slowed me to 1:44.7 -- second slowest. Last one was fastest at 1:42.9 (thought I was going to die); average: 1:44.2. I am NOT doing another one.
If we get one more person in our boat before the end of the month, I think Anna will row. How about it, Kirk?

I haven't been on the erg yet this month, but I HAVE to give it at least one go. I'll put it on the calendar on the wall, that will make it official!MikeH wrote:
