Mike,

Glad to see your comments about challenge of the Model B - this is what I work out on at home... I've never used a C or D... and from your report maybe I'd better not if I want to remain happy with my model B...

I'm going to be about 13K short of my 250K goal for September... my chiro grounded me on Tuesday... said I could do a light workout today if I felt up to it... something tells me that 13K wouldn't qualify as light regardless of my pace...

Jim S.

Congrats Jason on passing 400K! You beat Jenny and I even after all our smack talking. I had an off week, Jenny had a minor injury, so we've slowed down a bit. Anyhow, good for you!

Now I know what they mean. The drag factor is a killer, but it definitely is like weight lifting.

Here's an anecdote for you. When I was using my B everyday, my strength on the bench press went up dramatically even when I was taking a break from weight training. After the rollers went out on me, and while I was waiting for parts, I found the Model C's at the Y and started using them. Much easier -- way easier (the Model D's must really be sweet) -- but when I started weight training again after using the Model C my strength on the bench press was way down. So, in my opinion, for toughness the Model B is the baby to have. Even using a 10 on a Model C doesn't come close to the DF on my B.

For all the beautiful and smart women on the team (that's everyone), I am really impressed with those of you using the Model B's. My kind of gal.

Anyway, you set a great goal and came close -- that's great!

I'm taking a break for a while. I never want to row this many metres in a month again. After tonight's FM, I thought I'd do a few more metres to cool down: the spirit was willing but the butt was weak. It hurt too much just to sit on the bloody erg.

Mike

That's great. I hear him splashing behind me, and hopefully shedding some pounds in the process.

After signing up with WW and using the flex program last week, I lost 5 pounds the first week -- of course, I had to row like a lunatic to do it. I'll see what I loose this week, but it looks as if I may have finally dropped below 200 pounds (today on my scale naked I weighed 194, added two pounds when I got dressed), although I had to eat a dozen eggs today to satisfy my hunger (not exactly what WW recommends), so I'll see what happens when I weigh in Saturday after hitting 2,000,000 meters. Jason - you have certainly made up some meters in the past month... keep up the good work!

I finally got back in the saddle tonight for the first time since Monday... my back still isn't 100%, but I took it pretty easy and did a little over 5k... I might make it back up to my hour workouts in a week or two, but this is the second back spat I've had since May... no sense getting it so fouled up that I'm off for an extended period of time.

Jim S.
(Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to post properly. I put this message in the wrong area, and now I think I've got it. Not too computer savy.)
Gez, this group is hard core. After just thinking about 72000 meters in one day, I took 3 days off. and took it easy on 14000 this AM. I've kept the damper at 10, as it just feels more confortable for me. I'll try playing with sometime, but the last time I lowered it, I found my pace increased without any significant change in my 'split', which hovers at 2:17 or 2:18 on a good day. Probably not pushing hard enough with the legs yet. I'll keep working at it.
Anyway, congratulations to those of you who have the guts to wrestle the iron maiden that far. I just want to loose about 30 more lbs. without quite that much determination. It's pretty amazing what you ergomaniacs can accomplish.
