new and old handles

Post by rlholtz » June 5th, 2008, 10:53 am

Something I've been curious about. Since the newer, angled handle allows you a little bit more length on your stroke compared to the older, straight handle, what if any advantage would that give someone in terms of pace for the same effort?

Any ideas?

None. But I'm suspect of your claim of potential "additional length".

Okay. I was thinking you get some more length because your hands can travel a bit farther back at the end of the drive. But that also means they START a bit farther back at the beginning of it, doesn't it? Duh :? [/img]

Not that I think there is any advantage to it, but the wider handle with angled face does allow you to move your hands slightly further beyond your body than the narrower, straight handle. C2JonW
