Transporting five 13 year olds
Gina, the only way I could have transported five 13 year old boys would have been to tie them to the roof rack! Of course, they would have enjoyed that! I don't think you need to worry about stress management...
AJ - thanks for the reminder on the Blue Moon Row....I wonder if two bike rides in one day counts?

As you'll know being from the south I go for distance not speed. I can't see my self coming close to any of these times. Way to row Luny's.
Darryl,
How about you and I team up in the Adirondack 90 miler this fall? Check it out.
Dan
We just need someone in San Diego and Mt. Shasta to round out the state. (I think 2K is a horrid distance. They should smack the person who decided that was a good idea.)acrewer wrote: 1 Andrea Cosmin 50 Santa Clara CA USA 2000 8:30.3 C2Log

I've heard of that race and read some accounts of those who have done it by paddlers that post on paddling.net. Interesting that they have that many entries for war canoes and 2 person guideboats - those boats really move out. I've got the tandem canoe to do this thing, but it would be bumped into the C2 stock class with the really fast Wenonah's. Lets see to be competitive in that class would mean to cover 90 miles in 15 hours or less. That's a 6mph pace. Two good paddlers can hold a sleek canoe at that pace, but it would be gut-wrenching to do that for 5 hours straight, 3 days in a row. I could probably hold that pace for 2 hours.
Then there are the portages (carries) that you would have to run to stay on pace. I don't do running portages at my age. Thirteen years ago I had a fall on the last day of a 9 day trip, with a canoe and pack on my back (120 lbs) that resulted in a broken elbow out in the middle of nowhere. My canoeing partner (wife) had to paddle us out the last 15 miles with luckily only 2 portages with no paddling help from me to get me to the doctor's office and rescue me. Now I much prefer to plod along safely, analyzing each and every foot placement before I make a step on portages.
So I think I wouldn't be all that competitive entering this thing Dan. And all that effort wouldn't count for beans in the Concept II log. But it would be fun to do it just as a recreational paddler.

Will catch up with you all next weekend. Leaving this morning (after I row) for 3-4 days of Ozark river paddling Missouri. Had to pull the plug on my BWCA fishing trip because of a poor weather forecast and ice cold water conditions (always a safety concern when in a canoe). The paddlers I was leading, came up with this as an alternative. What the heck, I can take sunny skies and 75F, over northeast Minnesota at this time of year!
And way to row Andrea, Chris, and Gina. A formidable trio of Luna-tics!
Great to see those proud pigeons in their new condo Kristine. Very nice work.
Keep those Concepts moving! Darryl
