TimbukTOO Team Room
"Although logging workouts seems to be a very simple action, it is often forgotten. Once several days go by, it is hard to remember what was done on a particular day. After working out for several months, you will feel an unbelievable sense of achievement when flipping through the pages of the log book. You should also notice a sign of improvement. 'Material proof' can be great motivation and will encourage you to keep on going." -- Xeno Muller

"…Reflect on your experiences and accomplishments. Remember the dedication, the pain, the jubilation, the camaraderie -- your family. Remember the feel of the oar in your hand, the swing, the perfect catch, the pull, the drive and the run of the boat beneath you. But most importantly, never forget that the glory is not in you or any individual. Instead, remember that the glory is always in the team." -- Joe Blasko, Novice Coach, Saint Ignatius HS (Cleveland) 1996-97

Think of aerobics plus weight lifting minus the music or camaraderie. Combine unalloyed endurance with straightforward strength and demand poise, timing, and practiced form as well. Think of pure pain: that's the ergometer."

GOALS
Anyone care to share goals for the new season? I have two goals. One is to row a little over 3 million meters this season to bring my total up to 5,000,000 meters--I really want those socks and t-shirt.
As to the other, I hurt my shoulder/rotator cuff in 1997 and have never completely recovered. Because I haven't been exercising as hard since then, I have gradually gained 25 pounds, and I have decided that this year I'm going to buckle down and finally lose them.

Hi ELF!!
Great goals you have set.I collect the Concept2 drinking glasses for my million meters accomplishments.I have just finished 12 million lifetime meters.I can have a rowing party with lots of good drinks with all my glasses..
I guess my goals are these:
To row more than I did this year..go toward 5 million instead of the 4 this year
To better my times and they are not report worthy or even rank worthy.
To be able to do a marathon this year
To maintain my health..weight and body fat.The challenges always make me drop about 5 pounds and a few % of body fat.I row several times a day and my metabolism gets to be like a hummingbird
and to motivate even more crew to row and to maybe join our team.
Thank you ELF for starting this discussion. It is an honor to have you aboard and I will have to watch you..you will keep me on my erg every day with your goals

I just want to say how lucky I am to how find this team. As far as goals this year, I want to row at least two million meters for the season, Get back to 165 lbs or less, and pull a sub 7 min 2k and go to CRASH-B's. I hope to be motivated and help motivate my teamates on the way to those goals. Probably going to take a few days off to recharge the battery, but then I will put a new set of rollers on my Model B and go for two million meters. Good luck to all and I will see you on the virtual waters.
