Hi, all!
I'm a 17 year old guy that clocks in at 6"0 ft and 169 pounds currently.
For nationals coming up (June), I've somewhat embraced the idea of severely limiting my caloric intake in order to cut the necessary fat (and hopefully not-muscle).
Today, for example, I've eaten 900 calories, total. I know the deadline is literally three weeks (or LESS!) and I'm hesitant about what to do.
Today is my first day on this new diet and I can already feel the energy draining from my body, leaving me drained and tired constantly.
I have no idea what to do-please help.
Training to become lightweight with a low calorie deficit

Even if you were a complete coach potato, 900 Cal. is less than half of what you need just to sustain life.

First - quit that diet immediately! On 900 cals daily, even if you are not currently rowing or erging, you are burning LBM (lean body mass = muscle). Spend some time researching proper nutrition - you need the right type of carbs (complex, not just simple/sugar) & fats to fuel your body, and the right kind of protein to repair & build muscle. The fact that you are already feeling weak means your body is hurting. This link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvQb21ToAJo - may be TMI because it is targeted to collegiate rowers, but pay attention to how quickly after rowing you need to replenish your body, and when carbs should be ingested v. protein. You don't want your body feeding off itself. Your goal of reaching LWT on 900 cals daily potentially could really do damage to your body.

This way you will loose weight, both fat and muscle, feel horrible and get very weak...Program34 wrote:Hi, all!

To behin you need to make a plan, in how manny weeks do you need to loose the overweight. This gives you a number to work with per week. Every kg needs a deficit of roughly 8000 cal.
But counting cal is not the best way, the most easy way, is using a ketonic diet. Eat high fat, medium protein (but enough) and low carb, this way you burn fat the most easy.
Google it. Nothing beats learning. But no matter what stop this hunger diet.
Eat enough greens, eat enough fat, drink plenty of water. Do some extra easy cardio to burn some extra energy. If needed use a carb up once a week.
