Question for those who lost a lot of weight

Post by IHateToLoseWeight69 » March 29th, 2013, 5:47 pm

I see on those weight loss shows like the biggest loser they all needed to see a plastic surgeon after losing a lot of weight because they had stomach fat that wouldn't go away even while they were skinny. So my question to you guys is since rowing is resistance+cardio do you still have that problem while using rowing to lose weight? I'd figure the resistance training would make the fat around the stomach go away but I could be wrong. Either way I hope when I finally lose weight that I don't have this issue.

It really depends on how much fat you need to loose. Most people after being obese, can lower their weight significantly but still be left with layers of extra skin from their previously fat selves. Rowing is good if you do incorporate the resistance into it. Just erging will not build too much muscle because it is mainly cardio. Your best bet is to start with erging so you burn as much fat a you can. When you are left with the extra skin you have to do resistance exercises and build muscle in order to shrink it. Basically use the indoor rower to burn fat and loose as much weight as you can, then mix in some resistance training to build muscle and get rid of some of that extra skin.

Its not the weight, you can loose that, its the excess of skin that needs to be removed. This depnds on how big you are an how the weight is divided over your body. Training can not alter the way your skin will behave. If needed surgery is the best option after you first get ride of the weight.

All true. But if you lose more than 100 pounds, your stomach skin will be hanging down toward your knees. Not pretty. A nip-and-tuck will be needed, as stretched skin doesn't contract after weight-loss.

I always wonder, though, what happens if somebody who gets such plastic surgery puts on another 200 pounds. Does the skin stretch even further?
