Weight Loss Programme questions

Post by Bokaj » April 22nd, 2011, 11:51 pm

I'm 6'1" 265lbs looking to lose 65lbs, I'm doing it 6 days a week. Anyway I'm a few weeks in and have lost some, but I'm finding the second half of my weeks fairly easy. The second half is just a repeat of the first 3 workouts, what do you think about just doing the next week as my second half?

Also in looking at my next few weeks I noticed that weeks 3 and 4 out of each 6 I spend at each heart rate range, drop way back on time. Whats the reason, can I just skip those weeks?

FYI also posted on the uk board.

We appear to be similar. I'm 6'1" started at 255 in September, now at 235. I was lifting weights until January when my wife bought a Concept 2 for the house. Don't know what my goal weight is, but at 235 I still have a long way to go. By the way, I'm 58.

I started with the UK weight loss program but it didn't really grab me. Too light and too boring.

At about the point you are on, I switched to the Beginner Pete's Plan. Google 'Pete's Plan.' He has a lot of great stuff on his website. I like this program much more. More varied, more interesting and a greater sense of accomplishment. Every workout allows you to make gains from the previous workout of that type.

Along the way I've read "Heart Rate Training" by Roy Benson and Declan Connolly which I found really informative and helpful. I've integrated their approach into Pete's Plan. There are two long rows a week in Pete's Plan, and I do one at what IP calls UT1 and the other at UT2. Lately I've thrown in some much longer work; I completed my second half marathon yesterday!

I hope this helps. Happy rowing!

Just ordered the book, and I've looked at the pete plan but just wasn't sure about it, but I'm thinking about trying it or maybe the beginner version.
