Bit late to this but the same happened with me, I gained before losing. I kind of thought it was that muscle weighs more than fat and my body was adjusting? No idea if that's what happened but I soon started losing, not as much as I'd thought but I was mainly toning up. You don't noti9ce so much when you're getting more toned, it's gradual and can't be measured on scales.
