I think after a couple of weeks of just working on technique and some stamina the weight loss program won't look quite so intimidating. I'm really enjoying erging, and like Bruce, I always seem to compete against myself! Fun, fun fun! :D

Change of plan...

Post by Bruce-YVR » March 12th, 2008, 10:36 pm

Hi guys... after 3 weeks on the UK program... things are going great... losing 6 lbs now :-) I am hoping to go under 190lbs. by end of this week . We shall see.

I detoured from the UK program this week to see if long steady row 30mins to 40 mins at 22-24spm would help me to lose more weight!? I read that long and steady row would burn a lot more fat... we shall see at the end of this week!! I'll keep you posted!

Boy... I was drenched in sweats after the long steady row... I have a HRM and kept the heart rate in the 150-158 bpm range... good fat burning zone!! I find that rowing with a HRM is really good to keep my pace in check as well as work out intensity.

Well done Bruce - 6lbs! - I'm jealous.

I've been doing 5000 meters a day, slowing building up the SPM and I seem to be getting over the chronic breathing problem I had 3 weeks ago.

No weight loss yet though - I think the scale is broken<g> It was my birthday last week and somebody left chocolate goodies around the house, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Maybe I'll start my UK program next week.

If anyone finds the WL plan too hard, there are easier options on UK site such as:
At end of: http://www.concept2.co.uk/docs/guide/tr ... pter_8.pdf
or http://www.concept2.co.uk/docs/guide/tr ... ridged.pdf page 48 et seq.

Also, on Model B consensus is that the drag is way too high for most people without adding a "speed ring".

Iain
