Kind of curious especially with regards to people who are losing weight.
I wonder if I am doing enough:
Rowing: 520 (38 minutes, 7x per week)
Walking: 100 (30 minutes, 5x per week)
---------------
Total 620
Between the two I average about an hour per day.
How Many Calories Do You Burn When Exercising?

Where did you get that 100 cal figure? Doesn't sound right to me, unless your very light or walk very slowly.Liquid wrote:Kind of curious especially with regards to people who are losing weight.

American Heart Assoc. website
The Am. Heart Assoc. gives you much more credit for calories burned through walking:
Walking:
150 lb. @ 2 mph 240 cals/h, 3 mph 320 cals/h, 4.5mph 440 cals/h
200 lb. @ 2 mph 312 cals/h, 3 mph 416 cals/h, 4.5 mph 572 cals/h
Even allowing for cals burned at total rest your figures seem low?
This probably explains why you are much slimmer and feel much better than you thought you were/would???
Cheers,
Brent

@225, I hit the treadmill 3mph, 6% incline and get more like 300 cals in a 30min workout.Liquid wrote:Kind of curious especially with regards to people who are losing weight.

I use FitDay to track intake/exercise. Generally their exercise numbers are slightly lower than whats reported on any piece of gear; treadmill, elliptical, pm3. I look at taking that lower number & setting non logged activity as seated/sedientary as a way to pad conservatively.
