So after 2 months of rowing and reading this is what I do.
I go for distance over speed. I take it slow (2:30 pace), increasing the distance of my exercises week by week (12K now).
I love the challenges. It helps setting goals.
Just finished the Skeleton Crew Challenge and I am looking forward for the Holiday Challenge.

Thanks to the rowing (and less drinking :)) I have lost my first 20 lb and I have never felt better lately.
