Easy Bob, I didn't want to venture into every topic. I agree low/no salt PB is a better choice. Trader Joe's tends to have lower sodium products and that's where I get my PB.

I've read a better choice may be Almond butter. Costs twice as much and not have as strong a flavor. Recently I've been eating a TJ PB that is chunky plus flax seeds. I like it ok.

I agree the sodium content of some foods is crazy, like Tomato Juice. Food companies load up products with salt to try to get you to eat more. Also add sugar to salty products to balance the salt to get you to eat more...to avoid something like taste specific satiety.

I think eating a lot of potassium counters salt. The Banana is a good source of K as are most of the best veggies and fruits. I think Banana is an Herb.

Well, yeah - I guess that the subject of salt in food sort of triggers that kind of response from me. I'm a TJs fan myself, but the nearest ones are 180 miles to the south in the Palmdale/Lancaster area of California or 180 miles to the north in Carson City, Nevada. When we do have the opportunity to visit an area that has one, we usually stock up on a lot of items that we can't get out here in the boonies. For peanut butter, the local health food store (much more costly than TJs and only a small fraction of the inventory) carries a brand called Arrowhead Mills - salt free, chunky or smooth, and regular or organic. I generally pour off an ounce or two of the oil from the top, rather than mixing it in, on order to improve the fat/protein ratio.
