PM 3 v PM 4

Post by nchasan » March 14th, 2009, 1:39 pm

I just purchased a new Model D with a PM 4 and also a PM 3 retro it for my model C - I am bringing the Model C home to use during those days I get out of work too late to train. My question is this...how do you use the PM 3 and PM 4 in your training and what can I look forward to upgrading from the PM 2? Any tips on "best practices" would be appreciated.

Thanks

N

The basics are identical. Pull the handle get some strange numbers on the screen at the end of the row.

The benefits with the PM3/4 is that it does a better job of recording workouts (especially if you use a LogCard). It does a better job of intervals, especially the variable intervals that are not fixed distance or fixed durattion. Try doing 4K, 4'R, 3K, 3'R, 2K 2'R, 1K on a PM2.

The other major benefit (assuming you're not running with a PM2+) is that you can hook it up to a computer/laptop and run Digitalrowing.com's RowPro software. That will manage your workouts and with an internet connection will allow you to race with other rowers.

I neither know, nor could care less. The only sports I watch on TV are cycling, F1, sailing and, if it's on, rowing. The last two tend to be reserved for Summer Olympic years. I have even been known to watch the Winter Olympics.

The only soccer team I support is Newcastle United (and that can be painful at times). I was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Well Newcastle is struggling lately for sure...Not part of the Toon-Army then?
