Rowpro 2.004 is out

Post by Dokitoedele » October 1st, 2006, 4:00 pm

some of the fixes mentioned to some else on the uk-forum:
The Internet Racing system we use now was built to be fully compatible with the older Concept2 racing software e-Row, so that e-Row users can participate in races with RowPro users. However there are some inherent issues in the race system used by e-Row, and fixing these issues will break compatibility with e-Row. The new race system in 2.1 resolves these issues, and of course is not compatible with e-Row. It is also not compatible with earlier versions of RowPro. This means after a settling in period for 2.1 we will invite all RowPro users to upgrade to 2.1 so everyone is together in the new race system. Upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1 will be free of charge and is easy to do.

- RowPro is a .Net application - this means it runs under the Microsoft .Net Framework. RowPro version 1 used .Net 1.1 whereas RowPro 2 uses .Net 2. .Net 1.1 had some subtle bugs, and Microsoft designed work-arounds for developers to use in their products to "resolve" these bugs. RowPro 1 used these workarounds. As part of the change to .Net 2, we removed these workarounds, however we have recently found that one of them is still required due to some settings in our development environment. This means RowPro 2.000 to 2.003 have a few subtle issues that were not present in 1.x.
We have made the necessary changes in 2.004 to resolve this, so anyone having those issues should upgrade to 2.004. We'll post info about this
when we release 2.004.
