Need people to row with! Using Rowpro.
Hello everybody!
I recently downloaded rowpro-really good software and execution, if sometimes a bit buggy. The problem is, I often cannot find people to row with! Kind of a waste of the program. I'm looking for somebody (ideally more than one person- the more the merrier!) to row with on a regular schedule. I use eastern standard time- ideally somewhere around 6:00 PM-8:00 PM around three times a week. Again, the more people rowing at any time the more fun the row will be. Anybody interested? I can make a google doc with info, or you can contact me at jesse.is.outside@gmail.com.
All experience levels welcome!
Hopefully, see you on the *virtual* water!

That's the rub. Rowpro is a lot of fun, but it's just not very widely used. It did have a big uptick in activity during coronavirus lockdown, but even that is slowing down.rowingtapir wrote: ↑June 5th, 2020, 3:21 pmHello everybody!

Your best bet is to create your own rows and hope others will join you. I would be interested in joining you during those times.

Hello Mitchell!
Yeah- kind of seems that way unfortunately. Are there are any similar/more widely used programs you'd recomend? I usually row set time pieces, 30 mins. I'll set one up on Monday at 6:00, titled JB30. See you then?

One of the problems is everyone else waits for someone to setup the rows.
How many people you get is very time zone dependent. There are a few well supported rows which are usually after work for an hour or two and thats it. Obviously evening rows are more popular than early morning rows.
Unfortunately here in New Zealand we are in a lousy time zone without a large number of people in that window that people row in so we get only a couple of early morning rowers from England and Europe.
Also it pays to setup rows at least a few days out, not at the last minute so people can see them in time.
Your JB30 is setup for 6am our local time so no good for me. What you have is the Genfit All Welcome which is 7pm your time and this is often very well supported, personally I would just join that if I were you, most of the time there are at least 8 people in it.

Sorry I missed this. That would have been perfect except I'm out of town this week and without an erg.rowingtapir wrote: ↑June 5th, 2020, 8:18 pmHello Mitchell!

Perhaps next week. Keep trying by making your own rows or be more flexible and join an existing row.

Hiya Mitchel!
Bummer. Ah well- so it goes. My work schedule is unfortunately not very forgiving, hence the specific time slot. If you or anybody else are interested, I'll try to get a row up Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as well at 6:30 or so. If it works out in the long term and I get used to this schedule, I might run one every day if the interest is there. I like the program a ton, but there just aren't as many people as I'd like.

Re: Need people to row with! Using Rowpro.
Lately there has been more rowers as weather gets colder and COVID restricts group activity.
I typically row mornings here in NY (GMT-5) or 10am eastern. In GMT that is 3pm/1500 hours and started setting up 30 minute sessions that typically bring in 3-9 rowers.
As for scheduling the program should be a bit more consistent so in Oarbits we see GMT in military time and schedule screen is GMT standard local time. Just confusing and an easy fix
I suggest fixed time over distance so everyone finishes at the same time.
Like another responder said it helps to setup in advance so rowers have a chance to see the session.
For me Row Pro has been a huge motivator.
