ErgData V1.4.2 (21) Not connecting to iPhone 7
ErgData V1.4.2 (21) Not connecting to iPhone 7
Hi
prior to this version whenever i started the PM5 then opened ErgData the connection was automatic. Now every time i use this I have to connect manually. The PM5 monitor is detected but does not connect until I manually select connect, sometimes it says in ErgData enable the connection in the PM5 this is only since this update. Anyone else having this issue? I have emailed C2 to ask them the same question

Yes, I have an iPhone XS, and I’m being asked to pair every time. I’m sure it’s just a bug in the latest release.

I think I saw something in the release notes that this was deliberate to prevent accidental connection to another PM5 in a gym setting. A little annoying for home users who won't run into that problem, so maybe there should be an option added back to allow a switch away from this default.
I'll probably send that feedback through at some point.

I did not read the release notes but it is deliberate... reply from C2 Support
I agree it should be configurable....
"What you are seeing is normal for the latest release. We had to change the way the connection was done due to pairing issues in group and health club settings.
Thank you for your continued interest in Concept2."

this is an absurd design decision. All they have to do is add a checkbox to the connection screen to remember the connection to get around this. Or, bring up a message asking to remember it, like they do with HRMs.

Its not really a problem and is ensuring you connect to the right PM5. If it selects your PM5 in the home situation as the default then I don't have a problem with it. If it has not seen any other PM5's then there is only one on the screen anyway, its a logical design decision.
ErgData connection is easy, try throwing a PC into the mix with RowPro as well and then trying to get that lot working quickly at the start of a scheduled row. Any problems here and the PM5 throws an error and you have to start everything again.
What I'm not sure is working is the phone remembering the heartrate strap.
Other than that, the Android version of ErgData is pretty solid on a Samsung phone.
