Apple Watch heart rate support
Apple Watch heart rate support
Does anyone know of an iPhone app that will connect to the PM5 with Apple Watch support? I don't really want to strap on a chest monitor to get heart rate data each time I row, but I do want to get a rough idea of where my heart rate is over the course of my workouts. I also want to record heart rate, energy burn and distance into the Health app on the iPhone. The watch itself has a rowing workout that gives me decent heart rate data, but it won't record all the other data the PM5 provides. Alternatively, using ErgData, I get everything I want from the PM5, but the higher sampling heart rate on the watch is not engaged, so I won't get reasonable heart rate data without using an external monitor through the PM5. Is getting heart rate (and potentially calorie) data from the Apple Watch while still getting everything else from the PM5 something others are interested in as well?

It seems like ErgBuddy is the predecessor to ErgData and is no longer being developed. Both ErgBuddy and ErgData require a heart rate belt to record heart rate data. Neither one supports the Apple Watch at all.

Can you not connect directly to the PM5 using Bluetooth? Just make sure Bluetooth is on and go to More Options on PM and Connect Heart Rate. That’s how I do it using my Garmin Forerunner 35. Connect to my iPhone for Ergdata and the watch for HR. It’s a useless HR monitor though, as are most wrist based monitors.

Maybe this could be interesting for you…
I tried it with RowErg and SkiErg. Did work pretty good.

LiveRowing is about to release a Apple Watch app. Email nick@liverowing.com if you want to join beta. It does have to be use in conjunction with our iOS app. https://tppr.me/3dTnL
