New to RowPro: Wizard Heart Rate Recommendations Too Low?

Hi,
I’m 55 years old 6’1” 203lb. My rested resting heart rate is about 48-50, and when I push on a stairclimber at the gym I usually max out at 175-178. I just bought RowPro and am using the training plan wizard. The recommended heart rate zones look low to me. I notice that in setting up my profile, the wizard doesn’t even ask me for resting heart rate. Any thoughts? Should I just go with the program and see how it feels? Thanks,
Dave

The erg is a rowing machine that measures power, so we don't have to bother with HR or any other proxy. Just row and keep the boat moving fast, so long as you put a cap on HR to avoid overtraining.

Haven't used Rowpro in a while but I seem to remember having the same problem. For the lower intensity workouts any effort at all would send me over the suggested heart rate. I think I focused more on stroke rate and pace for the workouts. Indoor sports services suggests a way of determining your max HR though I haven't tried it
https://indoorsportservices.co.uk/training/answers?id=3. You could calculate your own HR bands based on the intensity of the workouts.

Reading the training manual, it says I can enter my own anaerobic threshold heart rate into the training profile, but I don’t see a place to do that. Anyone know how we can adjust the heart rate bands? Thanks,
Dave

Did you get this figured out? Found I still had RowPro on an old laptop...its version 3.014 but assume the menus haven't changed too much.
Go to 'Control Center' then 'User Profile' then 'Advanced HR Settings' (bottom right).
You can set: Age Based Default; Max HR; or AT HR
Hope this helps

Hi griff,
Haven’t figured it out. I have version 5.0. Sounds like there are some significant differences between versions, but I’ll go look for control panel and get back to you. Like you, it’s the lower intensity workouts which are driving me bonkers. My HR goes high. I’ve spent a lot of years rowing at 18-20spm, and I actually seem to do better on the low rate/greater force intervals than I do on the rest/easy portions at 23-27spm. 25spm feels very fast to me, like I’m all over the place.

I wonder if they have removed that feature from the newer version...you could send them an email. Good luck.

I think they have removed it in V.5
