RowPro Mac Evaluation Oarbits

After a hideous afternoon failing to get RowPro to run without crashing on either of my two PC's I decided to try my Mac.

(I was keen to get it going on PC as the one-off fee was more enticing than the $6+ a month option on the Mac)

Works fine on the Mac (doesn't everything!)

But it doesn't seem to want to connect to 'oarbits'. Bottom left is a red square saying 'oarbits: trying to connect'. Been like that for an hour now.

If I click Online Rowing -> Row Online... it doesn't load anything up, just sits there saying "loading rows..." indefinitely.

If I click Online Rowing -> Oarbits... it loads a load of upcoming rows and I can elect to tick the box to enter one, but nothing results from this (except presumably some bemused rowers watching me not move off the start line).

Is online rowing disabled during the evaluation period? Or is something else going wrong?

TY!

Solved this while waiting for this topic to be approved.

I'm in the UK using BT Broadband. I had BT NetProtect on which is a simple firewall provided by my ISP - it was blocking Oarbits.

Working fine now.

Never had an issue running it on my PC's, even really old ones.

It would appear you need a CPU made after about 2005-2006 to be able to run Windows 8 onwards, but as long as you have a great graphics card your fine.

RowPro also having no issues running on Windows 10 either.

P.S nothing ever works on Apple products for me, they do fly out of windows quite well however and I did see a YouTube clip where you can use your iPhone as brake pads in your car, they STOP you doing anything.

You will probably find that RowPro works fine on your PCs now that you've turned off BT NetProtect.

I had exactly the same issue with Virgin Media's 'Virus Safe'. When it was on, RowPro on PC Windows 7 and 10 just crashed on startup - and on my Mac I also had the Oarbits connection issue. Turning off 'Virus Safe' sorted everything!
