Good to see you guys are still involved. I was afraid there was a lost of interest.

You can't do the 1k on rowpro, that is OK for now.

I think we are far enough along that if you are unable to get to the computer to row your piece, you can do the next best thing and row it off line. We are almost done, and I would hate to see someone be dropped because they could not get to a computer for a weekend.

Marc, I hope you are still in.

Thomas

Thomas, Week 7, 3:09.1

A good piece for me. I lowered the foot stretchers from two sets of holes showing to no holes showing. I could feel a stronger difference on warmup, which was exemplied in the 100m and 200m warmup. I may have gone too hard on the 200m but both are a significant decrease in time compared to past warmups.

Week 7 current totals.

Thomas 22:41.0
Dan 13:10.0
Michaelb 13:40.0
Chad 13:42.5
Marc 10:00.0

Obviously, I am the only one to record a time for this week. Dan, Mike, and Marc, just get the 1k's done anyway you can. If you have to spread them out by doing one a day or as a session, that is fine. We are so close to being done. I would hate to win by default when based on past times by you guys, I should not.

Thomas

Thomas, Week 7, 3:08.1

Another good piece for me. Same lower foot stretcher setting (no holes showing). I did a decent warmup and got right to it. Felt kind of sluggish but was hitting 1:32 for the first half and slowly faded in the second half for a 1:34.1 average result. I looked at my 3:06.0 ranking and saw that I had rowed it in July (2007). I got fairly close to it but the erg year will end as it stands for me now. The plus was I got faster as the series progressed where at one time during the series a time of 3:15 was very difficult. Again, I see that if there is a serious lapse in training, the only remedy is to get started again and keep hitting it again, and again, and again, until there is peace, Amen.

Week 8 current totals.

Thomas 25:49.1
Dan 13:10.0
Michaelb 13:40.0
Chad 13:42.5
Marc 10:00.0

If any of you want to nail out any remaining 1k's in one session, just post the results on this thread and I will update the totals. Nonetheless, I was excited that four other rowers competed. I looked forward to racing each weekend. I am physically, mentally, and emotinally better for this competition.

Thanks Dan, Michaelb, Chad, and Marc.

Thanks for doing this Thomas. It inspired me to take a serious crack at the 1k, which had previously been a distance that I had feared and one that is not raced very much.

I am very happy with my time, and as far as I can tell, Chad hasn't beaten that time yet, so it still stands (back in the 2nd tier). I thought Dan might be able to go 3:05 or so, but it doesn't look like he took a shot at that, so you go down as having the fastest single time and the best overall performance. Congrats.

Hi Michael,

I went back through the posts and saw Dan Burpee had a time of 3:06.9 around March 21, which would award him as having the fastest single time. I remember when he posted that time I thought how impossible for me at that moment it would be for me to row that fast when I struggled to get 3:11.5. Now, I am actually closer to that 3:06.9 with my recent 3:08.1.

Thomas - Thanks for setting this up. I'm very pleased with my new 1k PB as a result. There is more to come at this distance for me when the timing is right.

Life seems to get in the way of erging, which was certainly the case for me during this series. The ability to blast a 1k each week didn't seem to work into my schedule so congrats to Thomas for sticking to it.

Same feelings here Thomas, thanks a lot for setting this up. I brought down my 1k PB much lower than I would have thought possible. My biggest problem in the end was pushing myself to a new PB while rowing alone. I found it too easy to handle down, thinking it's no problem, I'll just try again in a couple of days, then life gets in the way. I think the next time I try and crack my 1k PB will be online in a race, with some extra motivation either chasing someone down or running for my life. If you ever want to row 1k's online, let me know and I'll try and make it, it's a distance I enjoy, short enough not to be too painful. Weekends generally work best as I can't usually get to row during the week until after 9PM CST.

Cheers
Marc

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it.

Yes, it is hard every week to go full out. For the guy that is already fast, he could have trained through the first four weeks, to include the day of his 1k posting, and just focus on the last three weeks. For some, it would be a PB every weekend. And then the variations between the two extremes.

I got some more ideas on this, but I am really sleepy. I will start a new topic when I get a chance.

Later,
Thomas
