Any idea if/when RowIt will support the PM4?

Unless I'm mistaken, rowpro doesn't have any features that the pm3 doesn't already have and much better.

For example, rowpro doesn't have a force curve does it?

What it does have is a big display of the boats, which is nice, but hardly is justification for the price.

Steve,

You are right about that and the rowpro interface is very nice looking. Someone on here was using rowpro with projector a year ago, so the action was projected on a screen or a wall and the results were fantastic. Even without that, it would be nice to have the race on the entire computer screen. Plus the colors are bright and easy to see.

I would like to try rowpro someday, if I ever get a computer set up for it.

Also Supercanoa has their free program for online racing, but not the nice interface. I've not tried either of them but am looking forward to doing so.

rowpro

I use Rowpro offline. Only had one problem- and Digital Rowing addressed it immediately in the middle of the night on a holiday weekend. So no problems, actually.

Benefits of using Rowpro offline, in no particular order-
-training plans
-automatic logging and easy export to C2 online log.
-keeps PM alive if you have to answer the phone during workout
-can display different data on PM3 and Rowpro screen, so you see it all w/o pushing buttons

Prior to upgrading RowPro to 2:005 and 2:006 I used to have RowIT running behind RowPro (as a backup measure and because it gave a more acurate stoke graph). However, since the upgrade I can only have one or the other working and have not looked into why, just have RowPro running now (because I paid for that one).

Good point, so you can see the force curve on the pm3 and the rest of the info on rowpro.

What kind of stroke graph is that, and is it more accurate now? Thanks.

My rower was just delivered a few days ago. I immediately downloaded the RowPro trial, but quickly became frustrated with all the bugs. I'd like to try RowIt, but it doesn't seem to support the PM4 yet. Does anyone know when or if it will?

Thanks in advance,

Joel,

I had been using a Model C with a PM3 and RowPro. I just upgraded to a Model D with a PM4 and the first thing I did was upgrade RowPro to V2.006 and the PM4 to Version 16 (it was at Version 14). I have been running without a problem for about a week now so I'm curious as to what bugs you are seeing. There has been a problem with the online racing server since late on the 21st but everything else is working normally.

It's a exe file so I'm guess it's windows only. And there is no chance to run it with wine under linux either since wine have no usb support  .
I guess pm2+ it's still the best choice for linux.

I finally got the 2nd computer working with xp and used RowIt this morning.

It worked great! :)

I found myself watching RowIt most all of the time and just glancing at the pm3 now and then.
RowIt is much easier to see and to read. The graphic display is nice.

I hope the developer will offer a second version of this program.

RowIt can be made to work on a PM4

Post by Robt.Lee » December 19th, 2007, 7:06 pm

I do not know the RowIt author's intent with regard to support of the PM4 or any modifications to his software.

The software works with a PM4 if you can change two bytes of code. Those two bytes are in the initialization string for the PM. The initialization string for the PM3 is "Concept2 Performance Monitor 3 (PM3)" . replacing the 3s with 4s will enable it to initialize on a PM4.

I have no idea if this is a violation of the authors rights any software modified in this way is supported by you, the modifier. It should not be distributed to anyone else.
