Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
It provides much more than the previous version. Of course there will be teething problems - I thought I set it up for 20 min intervals but when I started to row realised I’d set up 20 hour intervals!!
More screens with lots of personalisation available. The only thing I don’t like so much is the brighter colour scheme, but after a few sessions I don’t expect I’ll even notice that.

Just tried hooking up the PM 3/4 app to the PM5 w/a usb cable and it doesn't work. PM5 does not recognize the usb connection and there's no way to connect via Bluetooth w/the PM 3/4 app. Only option would be to buy used PM4. Have seen them in the past on CL and EB but C2 no longer sells them.swingshiftworker wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 3:34 pmThanks! I believe the old version is still available on the App Store. Scroll down and look for ErgData for PM3 PM4. Not sure if that would work with the PM5 or not.
I just downloaded the PM3/4 version and it looks the same as the sone I was using before. Will try it w/my PM5 later when I do my daily routine.
Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
I was impressed with the change to the new app and all of the extra features...but I've only been using it for the last three days/workouts and at the end of tonight's 25x 1min 1r I hit the Menu button and got a hardware error, froze the phone needing a reboot and lost the workout from both PM5 and ergdata. I never lost a workout on the old app in several years...so now I'm not so sure its a good thing!!!

Looks like I didn't have the correct cable to make the connection. Was trying to make the connection w/the standard USB-A/C connector that I use w/my Android phone. Apparently, I need to use a USB-C to MicroB connector. Will buy one and try it again.swingshiftworker wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 6:07 pmJust tried hooking up the PM 3/4 app to the PM5 w/a usb cable and it doesn't work. Google USB ON THE GO. Also called USB OTG or just OTG. You need this function. Often phones ship with an OTG adapter you can use for printers etc, it is USB-C male to plug in your phone and USB A Female on the other side. You need OTG for the PM5. (You also need OTG set in your phone if it is an option, some phones make it an option).swingshiftworker wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 8:35 pmLooks like I didn't have the correct cable to make the connection. Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
while initially i thought it was pretty good. i now see that the option to stop when doing intervals appears to have been dropped. so after every interval i normally got a pop up to say finish yes or no. that doesnt seem to be there or if it is then if you say no or dont do anything it self teaches to stop popping up. will check again tonight.

Eric - I too was surprised it no longer ask you if you were finished when you stopped rowing. So now when you are finished with your intervals just hit the 3 bars in the upper left and select what you want to do. Pretty simple really. I think our tendency is to over think the process due to what we are accustomed to. It’s actually much easier and straight forward in my opinion.Erik A wrote: ↑July 13th, 2022, 10:10 pmwhile initially i thought it was pretty good. i now see that the option to stop when doing intervals appears to have been dropped. so after every interval i normally got a pop up to say finish yes or no. that doesnt seem to be there or if it is then if you say no or dont do anything it self teaches to stop popping up. will check again tonight.

Or (I hope) just press the PM5 MENU button (either once or twice depending on the workout). That should terminate the intervals and save everything.Joebasscat wrote: ↑July 14th, 2022, 7:30 amEric - I too was surprised it no longer ask you if you were finished when you stopped rowing. (I'm still on older ergdata, my tablet doesn't support the newer one, so cannot verify it.)

Yes I tried just pressing the PM5 Menu button to terminate a Just Row session yesterdat and it worked. No issues.Tsnor wrote: ↑July 14th, 2022, 12:17 pmOr (I hope) just press the PM5 MENU button (either once or twice depending on the workout). Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
Has anyone else tried the Fish Game with the PM5 connected to ErgData? When I hit "Play Again", it started counting up from 0 and going past 4 minutes, and I've only ever seen it count down from 4:00 before. My "Fish Game" workouts selected from the PM5 menu (More Options - Games - Fish Game) saved to the PM but not to ErgData, and the "Play Again" ones were just lost. I think my highest score was in the first 4 minutes of one of the lost ones, and I have no record.
This is clearly the most important functionality of the erg, so I hope they get it straightened out. I did reach out to support.
On the other hand, it was really nice setting a target pace for an interval workout and getting that live feedback about how I was tracking to that target. Programming variable intervals with variable rests is also much easier.

Anybody been able to use this version with Rowpro? I used the original version without any problems.
Tried this evening with the new one and wasn't able to get it to work. Although I'd only seen it 5 mins before for the first time.

Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
I used the old version with RowPro but it's not 100% so that's why I moved to using two PM5's on my Erg.
Just used the new version of ErgData today and I don't really like it. Fortunately my old phone has not automatically updated to the new version so will keep on using the old version.
Note that all I use ErgData for is the easy logbook sync that has all the data in to populate the C2 fields for stroke count etc. I like to see the stroke count at the end of the row to run it through the calculator.

Still not found stroke length and force on version 2. These are the numbers that characterise the stroke, so are useful if we want to row.

Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
I just lost two workouts today. One just row warmup and more importantly an interval workout. Disconnected and closed the app on my phone after the first hiccup. Anybody else who previously had mostly good luck with the app suddenly having problems?
Edit: cool down (workout 3) saved after the app glitched mid-row; the app briefly went back to the "create workout" screen while the PM5 continued to track the workout, a fixed 3k.

Drive length is just below heart rate as a selectable field for the side icons, at least on the version for Android.
