Location ON, whatever. Did the trick! Thanks!!Jungoes wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 12:28 pmHi Adam I was having the same problems, here's what I did :
1. uninstall ERG data and re-install
2. restart phone, make sure bluetooth AND location is on in phone settings..
3. Turn on wireless on PM5
4. DO not pair PM5 through bluetooth settings using the phone pairing steps!.. this must be done through the ERGdata app < cant stress this enough! if it is showing as paired in the phone BT settings un-pair it and pair through the ERG data app under settings in APP
5. Once paired through ERG data APP it should be fine..
i was having similar problems and this is what worked for me with support from CONCEPT2 staff,
I also use a USB -B cable with a low power USB charger connected all the time and it has been ok to date.
PM5 not connecting to ERGdata

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Thank you so much! Turning on the location has solved the issue for me too. No idea why they need the location to make it work but at least I know how to connect now.
Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Thank you - it seems turning on location worked. I was trying all day to get my Ergdata to reconnect to my PM5 without success. I'm glad I read this post. I thought I was going to buy a new PM5.Jungoes wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 12:28 pmHi Adam I was having the same problems, here's what I did :

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
You don't need location on. You need to follow the correct sequence or it doesn't work.

Interesting, I'll have to try that.Carl Watts wrote: ↑January 16th, 2021, 2:31 amYou don't need location on. You need to follow the correct sequence or it doesn't work.

For the record, Jungoes' post on page 1 about connecting using ErgData, not the phone's Bluetooth, did the trick for me using the latest version of ErgData and PM5 firmware. As far as location data, here's what one of the ErgData developers had to say.
"Please note, ErgData doesn't use your location, but Google requires Location Services to be enabled on Android devices running OS 6.0 and higher when pairing Bluetooth Low Energy devices."
"It's not an adventure until something goes wrong." - Yvon Chouinard

Some versions of android will not allow an AP to use Bluetooth without location data on.Carl Watts wrote: ↑January 16th, 2021, 2:31 amYou don't need location on. You need to follow the correct sequence or it doesn't work.

For those versions of android you CANNOT connect to the PM5 with bluetooth without location data on. You need location data on.
"..After upgrading to Android version 6.0 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning will only work if Location services are enabled on the device. .." https://stackoverflow.com/questions/330 ... ndroid-6-0
"...To access the hardware identifiers of nearby external devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scans, your app must now have the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permissions: ..." https://developer.android.com/about/ver ... ardware-id
This is a pain for most developers and likely blocked some malware attack of some kind given android described faking the mac address "... randomized MAC address..." in the same note.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
read post directly above yours. Bluetooth GIVES location data, so they make you turn the location permission on to use bluetooth.northlondon wrote: ↑June 6th, 2022, 12:02 pmNumber two was what did it for me, thanks for posting. Don't know why it needs location when I buried in a cave, but hey ho.
