Master's Open Sprint Championship
Last night, I lifted weights and did not do the 1k. I will do it, today.
I have downloaded the beta version of rowpro. There appears to be some problems with it logging onto the internet.
I am will keeping working at it.
Right now I have the following times for week 2.
Dan 3:17.9
Marc 3:19.8
Michaelb 3:23.4

OK, I got it working by restarting the computer.
It appears the results are on both oarbits so, there appears to be no one unaccounted.
I saw Joe Greco had also done four 1k's the same day as Dan.
Joe, did you want to participate? You would have to do one, today, under 3:20 to stay on par.

I don't know why my 1k did not post. I tried to do it on the beta, but I got an error message that I did not have the lastest firmware. So, I went to the old rowpro with no problems. Nonetheless, my time did not post. My time was 3:19.7.

Chad, didn't you do 1ks the last two thursdays? I got Thomas to include "thursday" in the definition of the weekend (wish that would fly at work too) specifically to include you and Dan and others (where is Joe in this competition?).
Plus, your 1ks from last week can make up for this week if needed.

can I use the 2 in bold?
1000m, 1:45.1, 3:30.2

If not, I will do the 2 of them this Thursday...

Chad,
It is now Tuesday. Everyone currently is on track with the schedule. We are going into Week 3. Knock out all of your 1k's, a total of three 1k', by Monday, March 24. Everyone will be caught up. Your goal paces are 3:25, 3:20, and 3:15 for the minimum time you may receive for each 1k, respectively.

To add, I see Joe Greco has been doing 1k's, as displayed on the results. Joe, you are more than welcome to join. I can go back and pull your 1k results and add you to the list of competitors, if you like. Otherwise, you may not want to participate, therego I won't add unless you say so.

Thomas

I've set up a 1k on the beta for Saturday, starting at 15:00 GMT / 11:00EST / 10:00CST.
I will be online for a warm up probably 15 minutes before. Given the problems we have been having recently getting races off on the beta, we could switch back to the non-beta version of Rowpro if we have problems during the warm up.
Anyone welcome to join.

Nicely done!!! How high did you rate for that piece? I guess now I really need to do another to stay in the competition .snowitall wrote:Masters_Series_1k, Sat Mar 22, 15:00GMT

That is a great row, Marc, nicely done.
I have been feeling tired and off this week (maybe staying up too late watching basketball), so haven't really rowed very much. I will try to get in a 1k later just to post a time, but will have to save my attempt for a PB for next week or the week after.
How do people pace a 1k? Do we think it makes sense to go out as fast as possible and try to hold on? Steady pacing? I find that the 1k pace is so fast to begin with that I don't have much or anything left for a final sprint.

Very good question. I've never done an all out 1k so I have no idea. My PB for the 1k was taken from my 4min CTC effort back in Oct. I did a 3:12.7 (1:34.8/1:37.9) split for my 1609m CTC this month. I will probably pace it similar to a 2k except the give back period in the middle will only be 500m and a smaller change in pace. At least we have a few weeks to figure it out .michaelb wrote:How do people pace a 1k? Do we think it makes sense to go out as fast as possible and try to hold on? Steady pacing?
