Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
It is happening more and more. All connected, recording properly, both screen show the workout. Press menu, all appears to go through and sync. properly BUT later I realise it is not on the Ergdata logbook.
Is there any way of transferring the result from the PM5 to Ergdata without having to hook it all up to a computer?
Becoming a real nuisance and happening randomly!

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
Yeah, I’ve had this happen too. Everything looks like it syncs fine, but then the workout’s missing in the logbook. Unfortunately, once the session is done, there’s no way to transfer it from the PM5 to Ergdata wirelessly.
Your best bet is to export it via USB from the PM5 and manually upload it to the Concept2 Logbook. Also, keeping Bluetooth stable and the app open during the workout can help avoid this. Make sure both the PM5 firmware and Ergdata are up to date, too.

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
I am having the same issue, and have noticed a couple things. Note that I am syncing my ErgData sessions to Garmin and Strava via the logbook application connections:
I only seem to have problems with "Just row" sessions syncing. The single distance sessions seem to (so far) always sync.
I am using the rower at my gym. When I go back for the next session, I later see my prior "Just row sessions", which didn't sync to the logbook, are now synced to Strava, but not to logbook or Garmin.

For any "Just Row" session you absolutely MUST press the MENU button when you're done. It won't record the workout in the PM5 memory if you don't (and there's no hope of Ergdata doing anything with it).
If you're 100% convinced you've pressed the MENU button then send an email to info@concept2.com as they will be interested.

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
I press the menu button after each session. I typically take a few seconds to release my feet from the footboards, and then hit the menu button. My understanding is you can either hit the menu button twice, or wait 6 seconds, after you stop, and hit it once. I have also seen a reference to hitting a button in the ErgData app confirming that you have finished the activity but I haven't noticed that.

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
I should add, I completely forgot about the "Save and..." option on the ErgData app, which I had been using, and stopped (forgot about) when I started doing single distance workouts.
Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
FWIW I've never heard of that. I simply end the piece - often then need some moments (!) which may be more than 6 secs - but either straight away or in a few seconds I only ever press menu once on the PM to get it to save in Ergdata and Sync with my log.cknutson61 wrote: ↑July 9th, 2025, 4:39 pmMy understanding is you can either hit the menu button twice, or wait 6 seconds, after you stop, and hit it once.

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
If you are in a workout and there is no end condition reached (programmed time elapsed/distance reached), PM5 does not accept menu button press for 6s after the last stroke. If you want it faster than 6s, you need to press twice to end the workout.MPx wrote: ↑July 9th, 2025, 7:28 pmFWIW I've never heard of that. Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
I think that explains the behaviour I've seen on ergdata trying to finish a row quickly before end condition - and it has a really odd plot as a result - if it expecting a double "end" but only gets the one from erg data, it misbehaves slightly.

Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
Interesting - didn't know that. I do think that a lot of the "weird" PM/Ergdata/HRM/Log behaviour I see posted maybe due to a little too much urgency in the button pushing. I've found doing something and then waiting for it to have time to implement makes it more reliable and predictable. But tricks like the double press obviously is a thing so maybe its just me. All of my sessions have a very clear end point...and if I couldn't make it to the end I certainly couldn't get to the button within 6 secsSakly wrote: ↑July 10th, 2025, 6:19 amIf you are in a workout and there is no end condition reached (programmed time elapsed/distance reached), PM5 does not accept menu button press for 6s after the last stroke. Re: Syncing between Ergdata and PM5
I went back last night and did a "just row" session, and this time remembered to hit the "hamburger menu" in the upper-left (ErrgData app on my mobile device), and selected "Save and go to logbook", and it worked fine.

That’s all I ever do, Just row, intervals, whatever and never have an issue. Rarely touch the PM5.cknutson61 wrote: ↑July 10th, 2025, 5:41 pmI went back last night and did a "just row" session, and this time remembered to hit the "hamburger menu" in the upper-left (ErrgData app on my mobile device), and selected "Save and go to logbook", and it worked fine.
