I haven’t used ErgRace in a while and note that many online races now use ErgZone instead. I know that Ergrace used to suffer instability and connection issues.
Is it any more stable now? I’m wanting to set up some online races (just for fun) but I want things to work properly.
Thoughts, anyone?
ErgRace - any good yet?
Re: ErgRace - any good yet?
What stability issues are you familiar with? I've seen dropped connections that blank results, crashes beyond 3-4 attendees and general (but not suprising) latency. Based on the updates to the app in the Apple App Store, I'd say that not much has been done on it in over a year maybe longer. Haven't used ErgZone as I don't see that as a racing app but more for individual workouts. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you need a racing experience to do it?
Re: ErgRace - any good yet?
ErgZone has some racing-like feature, but i'm not sure if one can really race each other. Alternative might be C2's real time loop (also no real race, but you can chase others) or EXR. EXR has a fully-fledged racing environment (it was even demonstrated to the Olympic comittee), but it might be overkill for what you are looking for.

The ErgRace app does not get updated too often, since it's more or less a frontend for the server component.
The server software has been worked on fairly regularly over the last year, i've bludgeoned C2 support with bug reports for some time.
It is, as far as i can tell, quite stable now.
