PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
All of a sudden it doesn't sync. How can I get it running again?

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
I think we need more details.
- PM5 firmware version
- Ergdata version
- iPhone or Android
- Are you pressing [BACK] at the end of your row
Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
How can I find out which version of firmware the PM5 is running? I remember that I did a firmware update in November, so that it should be Concept2 Utility 7.10.15.
I sync with an iPhone13, iOS 16.1.1. I am just updating to iOS 16.3.
I haven't known a 'back' button yet. Where can I find it? I usually just press 'new workout and saving' in my erg data window.

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata

Sorry it's the [MENU] button on a PM5.
To find the firmware ID look at the "Product ID" pages on the PM5 behind the "More Options" button.
Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
I did a test row for a bit longer than a minute, and it saved the workout correctly to ErgData. But how can I get my last two lost logs back to ErgData? They are in the PM5 memory.
Btw the PM5 firmware version is 211. And my iOS is 16.3.
Is it safer to push the menu button after the workout than to push new workout and saving data on ErgData?

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
You can't.
Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
Interesting...I'm not as latest as you : My iPhone is still 16.1.1, PM5 firmware 172, and Ergdata 2.0.30(1). My routine is switch on PM5. Load the Ergdata app - it pairs immediately on its own. I set up my workout in Ergdata and press "ready". The workout appears on the PM5. I then do the workout...and when I've finished I press the Menu button on the PM5. I then go to ergdata and press the Logbook tab. After a few seconds the workout appears in the list (and is also transfered to my online log.) Apart from once soon after the launch of the new Ergdata last July, this sequence has never resulted in any lost workouts - indeed its always worked just as I've typed. I've no idea if other button press sequences are supposed to work just as well.
The workouts are also all recorded on the PM5 but with less detail. You can transfer from the PM5 to your online log using the C2 Utility with a PC and cable connected...but you can't transfer an old workout from the PM5 to Ergdata.

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
Thank you for your detailed description of the data handling process. From now on I will always press the menu button after workout. This was the only step I haven't known or cared for yet. BTW the latest workout was saved without any problem in both ErgData and the online logbook. To get the lost two workouts into both lists I'll try the action with the USB stick.

Sorry, but it doesn’t sync again. Pressing the menu button didn’t help. What can I do?

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
Try other way - press 3 dots upper left corner and choose "save and..." one option shown. I always use "show logbook" as this forces sync and always worked on my side.

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
I follow the following connection process, wake up pm5, put on hr belt, turn on BT on my phone, log into ergdata app; wait for the two to sync (I use my hr with ant+ direct to pm5) then set the row on the phone and send it over. (then faff and get myself ready to row)
I always immediately look at the logbook with that option on my phone on ending a row - it's glitched once on me and only partially recorded the row data - but I think that was app version (android) specific and they patched it the next day - but on viewing the log on the phone the pm5 displays the main menu, not the rowing screen.
I then close out ergdata and shut off BT before wandering away.

Mainly doing the same routine, except powering of the PM5 instead of shut off BT.p_b82 wrote: ↑February 9th, 2023, 6:20 amI follow the following connection process, wake up pm5, put on hr belt, turn on BT on my phone, log into ergdata app; wait for the two to sync (I use my hr with ant+ direct to pm5) then set the row on the phone and send it over. When ending a row with any of the options on the phone/ergdata, PM5 saves its data and jumps back to main menu.

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata
Once you've exhaused trying all of the ways we seem to have used to make it work, you could email rowing@concept2.com. They'll need to know (HW/SW/Firmware) version specifics and sequence of actions causing what result. If you can offer something reproduceable so much the better. When I did that, my issue was forwarded to the developement team and one of them contacted me and stayed in touch until sorted - although that was with a generic new release not a patch for my issue specifically. IME C2 response is typically very hepful.

Re: PM5 doesn't sync to Ergdata – problem solved
Hi everbody! Finally, it works again. I had received a message from concept2 support stating:
"Pressing the menu button on the PM5 should have allowed the workout to save successfully. At this point I recommend resetting the PM5 by removing both batteries for a full 15 minutes. After this time has passed please install a brand new pair of batteries in the PM5, reset the date and time (if prompted) and then try a workout with Ergdata paired to see if it will then save a longer workout successfully."
This finally worked! I pressed the menu button right at the end of the workout as first action, before I removed my mobile phone from the rack. It instantly saved both on the PM5 and on the ErgData. Full success!
Thanks to the concept2 support team!
PS: I'll have to check the battery load symbol on the PM5 on a regular basis. It showed half full, when syncing didn't work. The old batteries still had a good level, when I tested them with a battery analytics tool. But obviously the level wasn't high enough for the PM5 to sync properly.
Cheers, Gabor
