ErgData "Workout Failed to Save"

Post by putridp » August 22nd, 2022, 3:54 am

I'm getting an intermittent problem where ErgData is failing to save: https://i.imgur.com/v1WWRvR.jpg

Usually pressing retry works and the workout saves. Once I kept getting the same error over and over despite pressing retry and I had to give up, and this morning pressing retry made the app go straight back to the 'Workout' tab - in both these latter two instances I lost the workouts.

I transfered the workouts from the PM5 via a USB key but this looses most of the heart rate data, unfortunately.

I'm running the app on a xiaomi Poco X3 Pro (ie, a flavour of Android). I usually also have bluetooth headphones connected at the same time.

Any ideas whats up, please?

This has started happening to me, no amount of retrying seems to work.

Once I've cancelled the exercise and quit Ergdata I continue to see "workout in progress" in the android notification drawer at the top of the screen.

Here as well. Was an hour workout, of whi h I lost all HR data. These kind of bugs are annoying.

I only had a situation once when my phones WiFi was not working. Cannot remember the notification poppig up, but it said something like 'will be saved when possibly to sync' or similar. After WiFi was working again the workout was transmitted to logbook, but only few data as I would have logged manually. Even in the App data was not visible anymore.
At least the workout was not lost at all.

Mine lost two sessions yesterday and one today. It gives the option to retry but does nothing when selected.

Android app (Samsung Tab) showed an update today. It appears to be app version '2.0.7+2'. After installing, I did a "Just Row" session initiated from the tablet, while connected to my PM5. At the end, I selected "Save and View Logbook Results" from within the app. I got the same error I've been receiving for the past week: https://imgur.com/z2AtmIQ

Pressing "Retry" does nothing.

The workout does save to my USB stick without an issue each time. I know it's been suggested to not have a USB stick inserted when saving to the Online log with the 2.0 app, but this has always worked perfectly with the old app and sporadically in 2.0. I feel better knowing my data saves each time to the USB. I've been connecting the USB to my MacBook and uploading to the online logbook via Concept 2 Utility app. Wish they would fix the 2.0 app to work like the older version.

For the past three days when trying to save my workout in the app, it stopped syncing with the PM5 so my workout was saved in the PM5 but not the app and the Retry option doesn't work. Each time I have had to upload the workout via USB. Wouldn't it be simpler to improve the syncing function so that you could sync the last workout in the PM5 with the App, instead of all this messing around with my laptop, cable and C2 Utility. Luckily, I workout at home, but those working out in gyms may lose the workout history altogether

You can add the data from PM manually to your logbook and verify with the code if needed.
This is pain in the ass, but possible to not lose an 'important' workout.
You are right, sync should be more stable and retry should also upload all data like HR, splits, etc. These data were lost one workout when sync was not possible. Don't know if they already fixed, had no issue since then.

Sync of workout worked yesterday but not today. Don't really know what difference there is from day to day. Could it simply be down to the app still not being sufficiently stable? Never a problem with the old app.

One thing I do though is to have my heart rate monitor directly conected with the PM5, and not the app. This way even if the app doesn't sync at the end of a workout, my heart rate data is still stored in the PM5 and gets uploaded with my workouts when I transfer the workouts from the PM5 via USB.

I don't think it'll save all the heart rate data - i.e. even if the HR monitor is connected via the PM5, if the session saves properly on the app it have stroke-by-stroke HR data that can be viewed in the logbook. But if the session fails to save via the app and you have to transfer it via USB you only get the HR as was saved at the end of each split, and the overall session average - no HR data saved stroke-by-stroke. Not a great loss perhaps, but like squiggly lines to look at afterwards!

I'll add that I've not had any problems recently.

You are right. I just checked and no squiggly lines. Damn. :D
