iPhone sleeping with ErgData

My iPhone used to not go to sleep when I was using ErgData. Lately, though, it goes to sleep while I am working out and stops recording the workout. I know I can change the settings for the iPhone to "Never Sleep", but I do want it to go to sleep when I am not using it. Does anyone know the setting I need to change so that it stays awake while I am using ErgData? Thanks.
