Rowpro License Question

Post by dpetzko » February 15th, 2021, 8:59 pm

Could someone with a Rowpro annual license confirm that you get a new license key each time the license is automatically renewed?

Asking because even thought my purchase history does not show a new license with 2021 renewal, Rowpro is telling me that last years key is the one I should be using...which only makes sense if they changed their license key approach.

I'm able to launch the app but when I try to access my Rowpro online logbook, I get a message about needing a valid license key to access. Also, the Tools/System Info page shows Expired in the duration field.

I'm still trying to get this resolved with Rowpro support, but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. So my first step is to verify that others with annual licenses get a new key each time the license is renewed.

I'm using latest version of Rowpro and PM5 firmware.

Thanks...

Dave

Was not aware that there is an annual plan available, I just went for the permeant of lifetime plan, to cost difference is minimal.

The license number or more specifically the license key doesn't change for me until a whole new version is released and you have hence paid for the upgrade if you want to.

Its currently on V5 so the next version will be V6 and I will have to pay for the upgrade if I want to use it.

Complete newer versions are pretty slow to come out, been on V5 for a few years now, in fact checking the paperwork since July 28th 2015.

Looks like there is a February special as well for 25% of a new license.

I started with support at Digital Rowing. Initial response from them did not help and they have not responded to my follow-ups. Was hoping someone here might have some ideas or recommendations. Hopefully, Digital Rowing will figure it out. It's not a show stopper...just annoying knowing that something is not right.

I love RowPro and the guys that keep the development going but the support for the product is not great. At the end of the day its a very cheap to run bit of software so you cannot expect great product support, you have to figure most stuff out for yourself.

My advice is that if you have been using it solid for a year and still want to use it, just purchase a permanent new license which currently is only USD$75.

Carl, they have already charged my credit card the $69 annual fee last month for 2021. It's a recurring charge that is automatic each year. I'm not sure purchasing a new license is the right answer. I understand their product support situation and will wait for a resolution.

Just a quick update. Pete at Digital Rowing was able to resolve the issue. It was an automatic renewal glitch...

Was he able to let you pay an additional $6 and get lifetime instead of annual ?

I didn't ask. I chose the annual plan because it includes upgrades. And $69/year seems reasonable. I believe that with the permanent (lifetime) plan, upgrades are not included.
