I am unable to get the PM5 and Ergdata to link.
I am running:
1. ergdata ver 1.96
2. PM5 Ver 31
3. Android ver 11 on a pixel 3 phone
I am up to date with my firmware and software. I have deleted ergdata and reinstalled. I have verified that location services are on. I have tried changing my log in credentials and still a no go.
The phone recognizes the PM5 and says its connected, but the screen data does not reflect that it is actually connected. The PM5 says "ready for app connection", but it never connects.
I have used ergdata regularly in the past, but stopped rowing in April 2020 because of a shoulder injury and subsequent surgery. I never had a problem previously. I have noticed that the connection menu on the PM5 has changed and it appears that I have to use the app to initiate the connection. I haver linked a screenshot. https://imgur.com/6PJL9x3
Any help would be appreciated. Also, should I contact customer service to make them aware of the problem or do they monitor these forums?
Thanks,
Barry

Re: PM5 not Connecting to Ergdata - Android phone
1. Don't pair your phone with your PM5. That breaks BTLE.
2. If it's been paired, unpair it. Restart your phone.
3. Turn on location services. (This shouldn't be needed but some folks find it solves their problems.)
4. Start up the PM5 and get it ready to connect.
5. Start ergdata and hit OK (for BT connection needed). Tap on the BT logo on the bottom line.

Thanks for the reply, but it's still not connecting. I will post if I get it solved.

Probably a case of using a more obscure brand of phone. iPhone and Samsung users are still having the odd hiccup but it appears rare.
No issues on what is now a really old Samsang A3 here, a phone that is no longer getting any support or firmware updates.

Try clearing the bluetooth data.
Usually in Android under APPS - SYSTEM APPS - BLUETOOTH - STORAGE - CLEAR CACHE (also try CLEAR DATA)

Re: PM5 not Connecting to Ergdata - Android phone
fwiw: if you have access to bluetooth you can pick off location, so it makes sense that android blocks bluetooth if you request android block location data. (" With Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google has added Bluetooth scanning support to further improve location accuracy."
You are not going to talk bluetooth on android unless you allow location.
That said, the side effect is every app that needs bluetooth has to explain that they need location even though they do *not* use location information. And everyone assumes the app provider is fibbing and tracking using location data.
