Ergdata display error

Post by jsarche » June 3rd, 2020, 9:12 am

So I got this result on a ranked workout yesterday:

Any thoughts on what could have gone wrong, or whether and how I can fix it (ignoring the fact that my heart rate monitor also went haywire)? It's really not that big a deal, since the end time, distance and pace shown on the top line of the table are correct, but it bothers me for some reason and if there's a way I can re-upload from the PM4 or something to correct it, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I'm running ErgData on an Android phone connected via USB cable to my PM4. I updated the PM4 to the latest firmware about a month ago, and everything else is up to date as well. Other workouts I did yesterday after this one recorded correctly.

Send an email to rowing@concept2.com to get them to investigate.

On reflection I dont think I would be using a PM4 with Ergdata if you want no issues. Would recommend a new version 2 PM5 to anyone as the Bluetooth connection alone is worth the upgrade.

I'd love to make that upgrade at some point - all four people in my family are using the erg, and I'm the only one using ErgData and the online log because everyone else has iPhones and we don't have the right adapters.

Are there documented problems using the latest version of ErgData with a PM4? This is the first I'd heard of anything like that.

Your PM4 is like 12 years old so you have got to accept your going to start to have issues.

Concept 2 also tends to move on from developing firmware for the older monitors and I wouldn't be surprised if the version 2 PM3 and PM4 get no further firmware updates. The updates for the version 1 PM3 & PM4 ceased in like 2012.

Concept 2 already have 2 versions of the PM5 firmware they have to maintain so its pretty much all over for the PM3 and PM4 now.

With so many using yours its worth the upgrade and just sell the PM4 to recover some of the money.
