PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
So i'm having problems with the ERG data app detecting the PM5 via bluetooth
Some info:
1. USB stick inserted for storage, phone - Samsung S9
2. PM5 running latest Beta firmware ( had to do this to correct erratic stroke rate above 250 strokes per min)
3. Phone connected to PM5 in bluetooth settings and shows as paired
5. Start ERG data - settings -bluetooth -PM5- scanning for PM5-- never detects unit!
I have tried reinstalling the app, restart the phone, restart pm5 pair unpair- paired on phone no luck.
also noticed there are no graphs on the online log book for workout data uploaded.
All this started after last firmware Beta update :/
Second issue in under a month, spending more time trying to sort out bugs than focusing on a good workout .

Get rid of the USB stick and try it again.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
The USB stick will be causing issues saving the data so needs to be out as Carl suggests (you can insert it and "move the workout" after you've finished if you want it on the stick).
Not sure that the stick will have affected bluetooth though. Using a beta sounds a bit radical to cure rate spikes. Not many of us with PM5s on the latest (non beta) firmware are reporting spikes - maybe there was another underlying issue with yours that you've not found yet? Good luck with it!

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
I'm not sure that the USB is the issue as I have used them loads of times with no Ergdata issues, unless the new firmware is specifically incompatible with the USB.
I only got my own erg in December and it's direct from C2 so I assume it's a very recent version of firmware.
Have you tried taking out the batteries?

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
So I have been having VERY erratic Stroke rates before switching to the Beta update ( which fixed the issue).
However now the Bluetooth issues came up
I initially thought the batteries were bad but tested them in a multimeter and used a plug in USB cable ( into the USB B outlet at the back of the PM5 with a low power Charger (as Carl Watts recommended in another post)
I leave a 2 gig fat32 USB in the regular usb outlet so I can save custom workouts and for memory, but Bluetooth connection to the phone to use ERG is gone,
I have tried unplugging the USB and still do not have the PM5 showing up in the ERG app!. even though it is paired with the phone..
Can't seem to attach photos on this forum to show some screen shots

Put photos on https://imgur.com that gives you a BBCode link to post on here.
Have you updated to the latest beta firmware to see if that solves your PM5 problems?

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
My PM5 says its connected. Screen says connecting. Has been happening for a few weeks now. No help from c2 as of yet. Batteries out, uninstall install app, nothing seems to work.
Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Hi Adam I was having the same problems, here's what I did :
1. uninstall ERG data and re-install
2. restart phone, make sure bluetooth AND location is on in phone settings..
3. Turn on wireless on PM5
4. DO not pair PM5 through bluetooth settings using the phone pairing steps!.. this must be done through the ERGdata app < cant stress this enough! if it is showing as paired in the phone BT settings un-pair it and pair through the ERG data app under settings in APP
5. Once paired through ERG data APP it should be fine..
i was having similar problems and this is what worked for me with support from CONCEPT2 staff,
I also use a USB -B cable with a low power USB charger connected all the time and it has been ok to date.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
OMG! Thank you for this information. I have been trying for more than 6 months to figure out why my phone would not connect to my PM5 after a firmware update. I had given up and was manually transferring workout data to the Concept2 logbook. I tried your fix and VOILA - my connection is back!! Please accept my undying thanks and appreciation.
Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Thanks for sorting this issue for me too.
My Pixel 2 was indicating that it was attached to my PM5 and 'ready for workout' but wasn't recording the workout. I'd tried uninstalling/reinstalling ErgData but this didn't work.
1. The solution was not to allow pairing on my phone (if it was, delete the pairing using your phone). It might be worth re-starting phone but I didn't find it necessary to uninstall/reinstall ErgData.
2. Switch on your PM5, launch ErgData on the Phone and go though the PM5 menu to switch on Wireless.
3. Use ErgData to pair with PM5.
4. Start your workout - Egdata should now record whatever data appears on the PM5.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
I just watched the YouTube Clip made by C2 when I setup mine, no issues at all.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Hi all!
I forgot to take my phone to my gym last night. I have my own gym (aka garage) and my own concept 2. No one else uses it.
Is there a way to sync my workout to the ERGdata after the fact?
Many thanks in advance*.
Sam
P.S I did a quick search but couldn't find an answer.

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Yeah, as long as you upload the session to your logbook it will sync when you next connect to Ergdata

Re: PM5 not connecting to ERGdata
Hi
Erg data is not syncing to my log book. I get an error message ' org.json.JSONException:No value for data'
I believe that I have the up to date firmware
Any help would be appreciated
