Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Backup and running as of yesterday from the looks of it.
Uploaded my Logbook results to the C2 Website, all working as well.
Looks like everything is sorted, just waiting for V5 to be released now.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Just tried to upload rows to C2 logbook using Rowpro. Still cannot connect to Oarbits server. Rowpro crashes.
Email sent.
Email sent.
Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Well I stayed away for three days but just now gave it a go. Did a 100m test row in "Set Piece" and then uploaded it to the C2 log just fine. However when I attempt to go online it says I'm not registered and I should go to Oarbits and register. I see nothing about registering in Oarbits. Only thing I see is "Edit Profile". When I do that It says the computer name I'm trying to enter is already in use. Bottom line is I cannot get online. I've been offline a week now.
Re: Row Pro Down All Day
I'm glad to see others can now row online again in RowPro but I still cannot. It seems I'm no longer a registered user. It prompts me to register in Oarbits but it just won't let me. On another PC I can go to Oarbits, log in, sign up or schedule a row, and view my profile and license. On the PC with RP installed I can upload an offline row to my C2 log book, I can even see and read "chat". But the "need to register" prompt window is blocking and preventing anything else.
Sent emails to support and tried calling the support and a heavy accented, barely intelligible person took a lot of info from me and then prompted me to contact support by email. That was useful.
Strange how I somehow got un-registered. Was it something I said?

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
"Update" Well, I still cannot use the online portion of RowPro. I'm still not a registered user and when I attempt to register it won't accept my "computer name" which is required to register. It's still saying the name I'm entering is already in use.
I did hear from RowPro support yesterday by email and was told that they changed the computer name in my account so I'll be able to "Get past that blocker".
The problem is,, they didn't tell me what they changed the computer name "To". So I still have no idea what to enter into the box requiring "computer name" in order to register.
So I've emailed them again for what they've named my computer. Stay tuned.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Its a weakness of Digital Rowing I'm afraid, you pretty much need the ability to sort out your own problems, both software and the required hardware.
They are a small team and are busy developing the software and trying to keep up with the ever changing operating systems.
Did you try deactivating and then reactivating your licence ?
I have always managed to get round asking for support and have sorted the problems myself.
You pretty much want the standard 3 user, 1 erg licence kept on one computer only. If you transfer to another PC, deactivate on the old one first.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
I'll give deactivate/reactivate a try. I did it a few months ago when I did a clean install of Win 10 and it went without issue. I try that right now. I'd still like to know what my computer name is. Or even what it refers to. Oh well, here goes.
Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Oh it just keeps getting better.
When I try to deactivate online my license number is already entered in the box. When I click ok it says "you don't have a license to update. Please purchase RowPro and try again"
When I try the other suggested method "By Browser" I'm prompted to go to <http://www.digitalrowing.com/deactivate> Nope! "Page not found"
The other two methods suggested are "By Email" How many days will that take? I’m still waiting for my newly assigned “computer name.
And the final method suggested is "By Phone" where I’m sure another unintelligible person from who knows where will just take a lot of info again and then tell me to contact support by email. “Again”.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
The deactivation is within RowPro itself in the "Help" at the top of the screen then "Activation Manager" and this is all you usually need to use. The number is in the box so you can write it down if you don't have it handy, then deactivate.
If this doesn't work is sounds like you need Digital rowing to reset and clean up your licencing I'm afraid.
Windows 10 is also giving a few people issues, personally I'm holding onto Win 8.1 as long as I can on my RowPro Server, its been faultless so why change it. So easy to fall into that trap of "Newer is better" well most of the time it isn't, well not until they sort out all of the problems with it and I don't have time to be a Guinea pig.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Yup, that's what I tried first. Done it few times in the past with pc and hard drive changes so I was familiar with it but it just ain't happening now. I'll just wait to hear from them.
I put Win 10 only one PC. It's the one dedicated for RowPro only, and is used for nothing else. Win 7 is on the others because I was forced to give up XP. Sure do miss XP. Never really got competent with Win 7 and now we're getting pushed into Win 10. Jeeez

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Stayed with XP a long while, still got a dual boot PC with XP on it that I still use.
Skipped everything and went straight to Win 8 and then 8.1, did actually like it then I'm having to grapple with Win 10 that includes Win 7 stuff that I didn't ever use so you cannot win.
The only thing I'm using 10 for is to open a browser and I don't know what they have done with Explorer, I hate it so using Chrome now.
10 also appears to have dropped some old legacy printer drivers so its back to Xp for my printer.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
It hasn't it's got all the old stuff built in. I set-up my ancient HP6840 WiFi printer (from 2005) on a couple of Win10 laptops yesterday. It was simply plug it in with the USB-A to USB-B cable and Windows 10 automagically found and installed the right driver.Carl Watts wrote:10 also appears to have dropped some old legacy printer drivers so its back to Xp for my printer.
Then unplug it and add it in again as a network printer and all is good.
Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Well another full day has passed with no response from support to my emails requesting help. I still don't know what they've changed my computer name to. I've just sent another email.
Re: Row Pro Down All Day
If I'm not wrong, the computer name was stored under your profile on digital rowing website. I'm not sure it made a difference tho. You could try changing your sid.

Re: Row Pro Down All Day
Dean, thanks for the help.
When I log into my account at Digital Rowing. I can see my contact info, purchase history and preferences. I see no profile anywhere. I just had a friend check who has RP working ok but he cannot find "Profile" either. I know I've been there before but we can't find it now. Have you tried?
