RowPro V4.1 is the latest version and it a big improvement over the older versions.

The online rowing with this software is more reliable then your actual internet connection now.

Quite an impressive bit of software now and its quite amazing compared to the early days of E-Row with little yellow boats on a blue background.

Still no worrd on the Mac version, almost too late now I feel and work should have started for a version on the Android tablets and the Chromebooks to take full advantage of the PM5 with Bluetooth.

It worked! Digital Rowing, when contacted, said that it would still be "at least several months" prior to a Mac version being available. I am no serious techie. With some trepidation I loaded Parallels on my MacBook Air (1.8 GHz Intel, 4 GB memory) and uploaded Windows 7. RowPro seems to function without a hitch and I was able to row my first online row this morning (but next time I'll change my settings so that my laptop doesn't go to sleep in the middle of the row!)

I did NOT want to have to buy a new PC for this program alone. So far, this workaround seems to be working (though I did incur the additional Parallels cost). I'm new to RowPro but hope that it will keep me on the erg during the long off-water season here in upstate New York.

A happy Mac user. I hope to see more of you on the river.

FWIW: Digital Rowing had a drawing in December where the prizes were the next major release of the software:

"To celebrate, we are giving away 10 FREE upgrades for the next major release of RowPro, which will work on both APPLE MAC and WINDOWS."

They drew the winners on Dec. 5th so it's looking like it is getting close.

And another striking thing in addition to that:
On the product page for release 4.2 they are actually showing a mac with a screenshot of version 5.
This is the picture I am talking about: http://www.digitalrowing.com/pi/img_ext ... RowPro.gif

An overly enthousiastic marketer? Or are we finally near?
I really hope so, because I do not want to go into the hassle of installing (and buying!) a Windows license for one of my macs just for this.

However there is one other option I have been looking into, but a little hesitant to try:
Buy a dedicated windows tablet. You can get those already for about 150 dollars.
The big advantage of that would be that I could somehow attach it to my erg as a second display and always have this immediately available.
Any experience with this setup?

The filename for that URL is a bit of a give away, too.

But is it native Mac or Mac with Parallels or BootCamp, which has been available for a long time. I believe that the most recent MacBooks come with BootCamp, so, sure, they could use RowPro. But they probably require installation of a Windows system.

This is a native-Mac screenshot. Look at the menus and the slightly altered font for the PM mirror section. It seems they are planning to issue a Mac version.

Its about 2 years late really, not sure if all the effort was worthwhile, Mac is such a small percentage of the market share.

I guess when other Apple devices are powerful enough to run RowPro it will have been worthwhile.

Devices that just run "Apps" like the Chromebook look to be more relavent.

With Windows tablets over here for about $400 its like I said over a year ago, the PM monitor itself is DEAD. One App on it can run as the "Monitor" as it is now, larger and in full colour and an "App" for RowPro and your away. With the direct cellular internet connectivity on these you now have Rowing online and direct verified uploads of your results automatically available on exit of the App. Just Bluetooth to a smart tach sensor on the flywheel, a universal cradle on the end of the monitor arm and your up to date with current technology.

I just received a message that Digitalrowing would release a Mac version in a couple of months. A first preview should be available in the next couple of weeks.

Luckily it wasn't an April's fools joke.
The mac version is finally there and works like a charm. Satisfied so far!

I cannot compare it to the windows version, as I never had the chance to test that out, but it all worked very nicely.
Unfortunately you cannot go online with rowing yet.
Hope that this will be added before my trial period ends, because that will be one of the decisive factors to purchase the product.

(By the way: they changed the business model from fixed price to subscription on the Mac version)

They need the Online rowing, its the ONLY reason I purchased it.

Large sections of the software you can simply do without, I suggested they make a "Lite" version for tablets etc.

Not sure why you would want the software unless you intended rowing with others, perhaps the twin monitor screen is useful if you are vision impaired but until you can row at different venues around the world as well the graphics are just too repetitive to be "Interesting" to watch.

I like rowing online, but my schedule rarely aligns so I can do it. Even without online rowing, I like to use rowpro to collect stroke by stroke data on workouts to do HR based training and look at how well I maintain pacing and stroke rate during a row.

There is a terrific spreadsheet that user "danburpee" has created to help do this stuff with RowPro.

http://www.sub7irc.com/RP_Split_Template.zip

A cruel twist of fate. As far as I have tested it, this spreadsheet works perfectly on the windows version of excel (2007 and later), but doesn't work on the mac version.
